iTouch does not show up on Mac

got it yesterday. First time we hooked it up to mt mac book and it was fine. Today trying to hook it up to wife's desk top Mac and iTunes pops up but it does not "see" the Touch. What the heck is going on besides user error? Thanks in advance

    removing iTunes and re-installing it has helped some users. maybe you want to give it a shot.

    no. it will only put a fresh (an hopefully working) copy of iTunes on your machine.

    however, backing up your precious information regularly is always a good idea. especially purchased content from the iTunes store ...

    Make sure her computer has USB 2.0. I thought my TiBook did and it doesn't. I managed to do a work around which I'll post here if you need it.
