There are several threads on the forum about this issue already. It's a problem between 10.6 and some graphics cards in full screen mode. It affects iPhoto, Aperture and Preview. The workaround is not to edit in Full Screen and let Apple know that you, too, are affected.
iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback
Thanks for your post Richard, it was a big relief... I thought my graphics card had failed!
I'd be interested to hear if you manage to resolve it. I'm having exactly the same problem with my MacBook Pro 2.16. It is very annoying because it is impossible to show images to friends in full-screen mode without getting corrupted images.
I'd love to hear whether there is a work around or patch that could solve the problem.
I have a 2006 iMac with the same ATI Radeon 1600 card and a variation on the same issue - I get the "corrupted" image very similar to what you show, but it often occurs in iPhoto when editing in regular (not full screen) mode as well.
Here is a shot from earlier today in non-full-screen mode:
Same predominantly green mess. It also occurs in one other app, Times (news viewer). In both cases the behavior is quite random - I can edit many photos without issue, then all of the sudden this starts to occur. Even "re-editing" the same photo may give different results. Fortunately, the data is unaffected.
I'd love a fix!
Same issue here. Graphics card ATI Radeon x1600. Upgrade to Snow Leopard, incl Iphoto '09. Result: corrupted screen when editing photos. Green field or red field with diagonal line. Totally useless to work with.
Apple store didn't know about this issue and where surprised about the number of reaction on the Internet.
Their advise: *Give feedback on IPhoto 09* (under ''give feedback'' Iphoto) and hope that Apple team will wake up.
After the disaster with printer-drivers +(The Gutenprint drivers under Snow Leopard are an abomination. The quality of the color printing is extremely poor. Unusable)+ this is not what I was used to see at Apple.
Please Apple Team: support your loyal customers.
Some problem here. I went to the Rome Apple Store -Italy - some days ago, they didn't know anything about this. We tried with 10.5 and iphoto 09 there was no problem, and 10.6.2 and iphoto 08 no problem. Only 10.6.2+iphoto 09 seems to be affected. I've an ati radeon 1600 graphic card.
