Q: Has Motion replaced Shake?
I just went to an Apple store to buy Shake and they say that they are not making it any more because it has been replaced by Motion. Is that true?
I could see that there was a bit of overlap in the two products, but from what I have seen, Shake can do a lot of things that Motion can't.
I have Motion already, should I bother buying Shake?
Thanks.

Absolutely. Shake is far better in most every way. The only problem is
that Shake is EOL'd. Although it works with all current Macs and Snow Leopard,
development has ceased. As a result Motion does a better job of 3D and particles.
Despite all this, Shake remains a wonderful compositing and effects environment.

Can Motion do what you need to do?
Do you want to get deeper into compositing and effects?
If you decide to get Shake, you won't find it at Apple.
Look on the forums. I see it on eBay now for $400.
That's an excellent value.
