iSync has abysmal support for Palm devices, particularly the earlier Handspring units and those Palm devices with serial attachment released before the inclusion of USB. You are tying to achieve something that is not explicitly supported by Handspring—which no longer exists—by Palm, or Apple.
Many users of iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit under Mac OS X 10.5 and later were no longer able to simultaneously synchronize contacts, events and tasks in a single pass, as they had been able to do under earlier Mac OS X 10.4.x. In such cases, it was necessary to synchronize one data type—say contacts—in a first pass, then the other data type—events and tasks—in a second, subsequent synchronization. The change was triggered by pressing the device icon and checking and unchecking the Contacts and Calendars boxes, reversing the order before launching the second pass.
Using The Missing Sync for Palm OS is not an option, as your device is too old to contain the required Palm OS.
