Jan 28, 2010 1:55 AM in response to Omac86by polydorus,Could you describe exactly what happens when you try to open iTunes with any error message in full.
If there is no error message, open your task manager and go to the processes tab.
Does iTunes.exe appear on the processes tab when you try to open iTunes? If so, does it go away again or does it stay there although iTunes does not open.
iTunes cannot run if Quicktime doesn't work, so need to check if Quicktime works normally. -
Jan 28, 2010 2:21 AM in response to polydorusby Omac86,When i try open it, it looks like its loading something for a couple of seconds and then does nothing. Abit earlier it popped up with an error message saying something like "Cannont sync iphone because the disc cannot be read" or something similar but it only popped up with that once, and yes iTunes.exe is in the processes tab and its just staying there. Quicktime is also full operational.
Any ideas? -

Here are a couple of simple things to try although I am not hopeful.

Stop the bonjour service, this FAQ has instructions:

You should also run a full scan for malware, as malware can cause this kind of silent launch failure.
It is probably worth getting a second opinion using one of the free online scans for one of the big names such as Norton, Kaspersky, Pandasoft etc.
If none of that shows anything, can you create a new account and check to see if iTunes opens in it. This Apple troubleshooting article tells you how. I need to know if the problem just affects one account or if it is system wide.

You could also try working through the suggestions in the article. Let me know what you tried and the results. -
