Hi there. I think I'm in the right forum. My imac is having problems playing some cd's. An example would be that I have a 3 disc set and 2 of the cd's played. It's just music cd's so it should be fine. The imac just ejects the cd after trying to read it. Any ideas? The cd itself looks fine, no damage at all.

Is that the only example of it not working, or are there "some" other ones that don't work?

Does that CD work in another device, such as a music CD player?

Since it works with most music CDs, the need for cleaning would be less likely. It's possible the optical drive is more sensitive to the disc being slightly unbalanced or warped, or some other physical factor.

If the problem becomes worse and affects more discs that worked fine before, then I would suspect an issue with the drive (including a case of built-up dust inside).

I am also facing a similar problem. Have a 20 Audio CD set. On my iMac, a few CD's behave erratic - either get ejected or i have trouble importing some of the sound tracks. These CD's/tracks work well on my Bose music system without any glitch. If you have found solution to your problem, it may help me too.

I'm starting to have the same problem with my iMac drive. When I try to copy some CDs to iTunes, the drive makes crazy scratching noises and takes insane amount of time to copy the disk. The transfer is full of skips and is practically unlistenable. When I try the same disk in my MacBook, it is transferred in a snap without any problems. These are BRAND NEW disks! Very frustrating!
