We have both an iPhone 3GS and an iTouch 64. On the top menu of the iPhone there is a battery charge indicator icon, and it also indicates the percentage of charge. The iTouch shows the battery charge indicator icon, but no percentage of charge, so for this I have to go to someone else's App. Am I missing something? Could this be included in the next firmware release?

iTouch 64, iPhone OS 3.1.2

Have you tried resetting/restoring the iPod touch?
I believe it should display the battery icon the same way the iPhone does.

    Cheers!

My 64GB Touch shows that greenish bar to indicate a general charge level for the Touch, but not in percentile. However, if the Touch is at 20%, a notice will state this and urge you to charge.

There is a free App called Battery Status that allows to to see the exact percentages, as well as the time remaining given your usage.

Yes - I didn't mean that you should see the percentage as a numarical figure, just that you can see the battery level in the icon & estimate the percentage based on the graphic.

    Cheers!

That is one of the things that certainly think that the iPod touch should have on it's OS software, but it looks like only the Iphone has that feature( incredibly silly in my opinion). A lot of my friends have the Iphone and it's has that percentage that gives you an stimate of how much battery is left of the charge of the iPod battery.

Knowing if future updates will provide that feature is very hard to predict, but you can send a feedback(http://www.apple.com/feedback/ ) to apple that you should include your suggestion to add that battery power indicator that shows in percentage how much is left of the battery power.....

Thanks. I've sent a suggestion to Apple that they include this feature in future software updates.

But what can you do with that actual number, percentage of charge? It does not tell you how many minutes of talk time you have left nor how many minutes of running any thing else you have left.

The point I am trying to make is that a number really cannot give you more useful information than the graphic. Consider the fuel gage in your car. It does not tell you how much of a percentage of fuel you have. It too is basically just a graphic with a pointer that hovers somewhere between full and empty. If you drive hard and fast a half tank won't take you as far as if you drive slower. The car cannot know how you intend to drive so it cannot tell you if you will get there or not based on the percentage remaining. Same with the battery in the ipod. You have to make a judgement and the graphic is more than adequate to provide you with the information you need.

    Obviously, just my opinion.

    Gregory,

I respect your opinion on the matter, but somehow you are not right full 100% percent. One of the reasons of me saying that is because you might think that battery life indicator showing you in percentages the remainder of the battery life isn't a perfect science. You might be right on several aspects, however I played around long enough with an Iphone to noticed that it does give you a more accurate reading. In which ways you might ask, well for once let's say you browsing the web and load a few pages the battery(with the pecentage number) gives you an estimate of how much battery you wasted opening safari while loading pages. In contrast by using the graphic alone it doesn't really gives you a full picture of much battery you trash away by using the Internet. Having the clarity to know how much battery you used during the day, can make you realized you might have to save battery until you can charge the battery of your iPod(without unwillingly drying out the iPod battery charge). That accuracy with the percentages comes in handy specially when away from home to wall/car charges are not around before the iPod flashes on the screen that you have 20 percent left of battery.

I don't know but that the way I think of that.....
