OK. Here's the deal. Call Apple. Get a Case #. Tell them your screen has yellow. Take a picture of your Screen with the Grey Bars Up, in case Tech on Phone wants you to eMail pic to him or her. If lugging it to the store is a problem, say that. I have no Apple Stores here. So they are sending me a replacement. I bought mine from a reseller in NY. I'm in Florida. I tried swapping 2 with the reseller but both have Yellow, so I'm dealing with Apple now. My replacement ships on the 18th. Apple is suppose to have a fix in a week or 2, from what the Tech told me. I gave Apple my Credit Card Info, so I can hold onto this one until the other one comes. They give you 30 Days to Return the old Unit. But Call Apple & Get a Case #.

This is just think we were all referring to when we said, they just put a "band aid" on it instead fixing the source of the problem. Some good observations. I wonder if anyone else see this. Thanks!

    Dino,
Thank you for your advice...I will go ahead and do that then. This is just SO FRUSTRATING:(( But then I know you all know that already!
I kept thinking maybe I am overly obsessing but then took a very good look at my 30" Apple Cinema Display here at work and it is GORGEOUS....same solid color all the way across from top to bottom. There is just no comparison. Looks like I am going to have to get another replacement:(

Your very Welcome Christine. Apple is aware of the problems. Their phones have been ringing off the hook, I'm sure. I sent a picture via email & they confirmed that there was in fact a problem with the Color conformity of my screen. You will get a good one in the end. There is some inconvenience involved, for us, unfortunately. Good Luck!

FWIW - opened and started to find a perfect machine. No dead pixels, no need for flicker firmware updates (preinstalled), no yellow tinge that I can see. I feel alittle guilty that I have a new and perfect machine and others don't. Hang in there. Apple will resolve this. It may not be in the way we would all like to see but it will be resolved. BTW - the newbee is a week 06. So it goes . . .

    Michael,

What are you using to check for dead pixels? Eyeballing it or a program.

Looking at getting the iMac, convert from PC, but as most, have been waiting for this issue to cool down.

This page has all the Tests except for iSight dead Pixels.

Click On Test Your Screen & just keep Clicking through each Mode.

I used the iMac squeaked test for the pixels and none were dead. I took a photo with the camera and black cloth and it has no dead pixels. The firmware updates were both preinstalled. I downloaded the display one just to be sure and it says it is not needed on this machine. So far so good. I think I can uncross my fingers now. I am typing this on my MBP and transferring data from a TM backup as we speak. I am especially relieved to see no color variation at all. It looks perfect to my tired old toad eyes.

Again, your iMac has given me hope. The Light at the end of the Tunnel. And it's a bright White Light, not a Yellow One!

Our Top-Moderator reached post number 1000!
    Congratulations

    DINO FOR PRESIDENT!

..., but first we have some questions about your computer:

    What week is it?
Is it 27" DUO or QUAD CORE?
Did you notice the yellow tinge?
The 21.5" iMacs have no issues. Why didn't you order that one?
Did you already try Onyx? What about Bleach?

BTW The replacement of the Graphics Card could fix your flicker problem.

    THANKS DINO!!!

citrus, you are very funny. Wow, 1000 Posts. That's crazy! Do I really ask all those Questions? You know it would be nice if we had come to a solution at this point, but I feel all my posts on this thread, was kind of a waste. Especially since people are getting Week 06 & still having Yellow & Loud HD issues. I think the Flicker has improved but not the Yellow. Do I need to post another 1000 times, before the Yellow gets bleached out. Sorry for going Off Topic guys.

*Apple, Please Fix the iMac's Yellow Screen!*

    Has anyone noticed...?

After the second fix, the DISPLAY firmware update, my screen appears to be "slower". I say that because when I was testing my system, trying to see what would cause the flicker, I used X-Plane a lot. Even with all the graphics options turned to "full" or "insane" or whatever the most aggressive setting, the video during flight was smooth.

After the Display update, I can see the display refreshing as the scene moves/rotates during flight. While I don't believe I am imagining things, I would like separate confirmation.

Anyone know how to impartially measure the screen refreshing, short of an oscilloscope that is...

    Thanks-

Well we know it had to do SOMETHING to the iMac besides just stopping the flicker. I would not doubt that we are sacrificing a slight bit of performance, after installing these Updates. Some of us will notice, others will not. I guess it depends on what you use your iMac for. Any decrease in performance would be a big disappointment.
