My older Entourage inbox has 100-110 folders, each containing 200-400 messages, many with attachments. The total size of the Entourage "identity" is 3GB or so. I have recently switched to Apple Mail but wish to import my 6.28GB worth of old messages into Mail. When I follow the help menu and import mailboxes from Entourage, only 2088 mail messages are imported. The other 95% or more show up as empty folders. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a way to import directly from the "main identity" folder in the hard drive i.e. the 6.28GB file?

Laptop G4 latest, Mac OS X (10.6.2), Snow Leopard

Sorry, I don't have any ideas, but the same thing happened to me, and I had a lot fewer emails. Maybe 50 mailboxes with approx 2-3000 emails. A little more than half my boxes did come over, but the rest are empty folders, including my inbox and sent mail....my most important boxes!

Well, I just discovered that if I rebuilt my Entourage database and then tired to import again, I got all my mailbox folders filled in a new folder called import-2. Except that there are fewer emails in these folders (sometimes a lot fewer)--could they have been corrupted??

An imperfect solution, to say the least

From about 4000 emails within my Entourage Inbox and Sent (approx. 2GB), only about 1000 emails is imported to Mail. Tried everything but all I got is about 20% of what is in Entourage.

Anyone has any solution for this? Email simply does not import all the data from Entourage.
I am sure its SL issue. This never was an issue before SL.

    Thanks, Mike

    Getting the same problem.

    From 16000 mails I only get 450mails into mail.app!
    Getting frustrated.

I had the same issues and talked to Apple Support. The only way to go around the problem is dividing your emails among multiple smaller subfolders and import them... I gave up on that and still using entourage to check my old emails..

I had this problem with 5 years of saved mailboxes. I figured out a way to get around it. After importing to macmail from entourage to set up macmail, I opened the import folder in macmail and deleted all the mailboxes as some had mail but most did not (I did not want to sift through >25K mails to make sure I did not miss one). Keep both macmail and entourage programs open. Create a temporary subfolder in the inbox on the exchange server using entourage. Move all the mailboxes containing mail to this subfolder in the inbox through entourage. Once everything is moved to the inbox, switch to macmail. Highlight all the mailboxes containing mail that are in the temporary folder in the inbox on the exchange server. Drag them to the import folder in macmail.

I can now discard Entourage and its clunkiness.
