Q: Shake manual with software trial

Hi,

If I buy a manual with a 30 day shake trial... surely, completely deleting it and then reinstalling will see me have a workable version of shake???? Or not??? I was on a course for something else the other day and someone on the course said that was a great way to get a copy of shake now it's no more...

2Ghz Intel Core 2 duo. 2GB 667Mhz DDR2 SDram, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 500GB WD hard drive

I doubt your plan will work because:
    1. To activate the trial you need a serial number from Apple.
Since the product has been discontinued I doubt they will give you a trial serial number.
    2. I think Apple is smart enough to make converting from a trial to a full version
not as simple as deleting the application.

Therefore, if you'd like to use Shake, you will need:
    1. A copy of the installer.
    2. A valid serial number.

If someone offers to give you or sell you a copy of Shake,
make sure you get both items.

The trial version is limited. If I recall correctly, you are unable to save scripts and perform certain other features. So you couldn't use the trial version for professional work.

I know Apple has discontinued the retail version but does anyone know if they are still offering the source code to facilities?

To the best of my knowledge, that offer is no longer available. The original offer expired back in 2006, but it's possible that it was extended past that. But I'm reasonably certain that Apple no longer offers it, though you could try to get in touch with the Pro Apps sales group and ask.
