Currently Being ModeratedNov 30, 2009 1:32 AM (in response to caveman45506)Every time you download music from the iTunes store Apple have to pay the artist royalties, so the official stance from Apple is that purchases from the iTunes music store can only be downloaded one time. Then, you must pay again.
*This is why you are prompted to back this music up to a cd or dvd* (which I assume you didn't do).
Some people say that they've been allowed a re-download for various reasons when they've contacted Apple.
You can only ask but please be aware that Apple are not obligated to do this for you.
