I've been having a weird problem where my machine freezes up for about 5-10 seconds, and then unsticks for about 3-6 seconds. This repeats until the machine either crashes or I reboot it.
I'm not sure if this problem will become a big issue or not - it has only occurred once so far, but I thought I'd mention it to see if anyone else has had this problem?
I have exactly the same problem. In this case I can do a logoff and login and everything is ok.
Perpaps it's somethink with Parallels or VM-Ware (I use VM-Ware).

Hi Alex - This trackpad problem/memory error seems to have gone away since I updated to VMWare 3. I was still using 2.something when I made my last post on this subject of the IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue. The Mac also does not hang for long periods during shutdown any more. I used the
uninstaller to get VMWare 2 completely off and then installed 3 from there.
Of course, VMWare may not be related at all to this multitouch problem that we are all seeing. Many people who do not use any virtual machines experience this same issue. There are still too many variables, the problem is sporadic, and co-incidental "lucky" user actions (as in my VMWare story) often appear to fix the problem. I only hope some of Apple's programmers are on the case! 🙂
thanks for your hint, I will try to reinstallt VM-Ware 3. I have just make an upgrade from Version 2.x. I hope that I finde dependences to 2.x by uninstalling the Version 3.

I have reinstall VM-Ware 3 - and the first time it seems to work. But today I have the same error.
In the logs I have seen some difference between the working and not working hidd-Service....

Hi JussiMacShow - I have seen nothing to indicate that Apple has yet found the solution to this vexing problem. It does seem that VMWare is not necessary to make this happen, however. And in reference to my earlier post about reinsalling/updating VMWare, everything was working fine for several weeks when all of a sudden the trackpad lost its multi-touch sensitivity once again, except for one/two fingers of course.
So rather than go to the trouble of troubleshooting, I just closed everything up and did a restart and I've been fine since (about a week now). It certainly seems that this problem is very sporadic and erratic and very hard to pin down to a particular cause.
I have exactly the same problem with my MBP 5.5. (late 2009). It happens every 2 to 4 day's, that directly after a boot the three and four finger gestures do not work. After a reboot it works fine again for the next day's.
I have spent a lot of time to investigate the problem and look for solutions, but until now without any success. I have subsequently uninstalled all programs with launch demon processes (black berry, UMTS usb stick, VMWare 3.0.1, etc.). I can definitely say, that on my MBP VMWare doesn't cause the problem. I have have also deactivated Bluetooth, but got the same problems. The same applies to PRAM reset and rights repair, both actions haven't solved it.
The mentioned workaround to restart the hidd (sudo killall hidd) deamon does also not work for this issue, only a shutdown/reboot helps.
I have now done analysis of the log files and compared the boot log entries with and with the occurring problem. The conclusion is, that every time the problems occurs the following entries can be found in the logs:

Since I haven't installed any other applications which will be loaded during boot-time and the problem always occurs directly after the boot it seems to be related to MBP with 10.6.2 and not any other third party applications.
I hope that Apple is aware of that very annoying problem and is trying to fix it with 10.6.3. Any hints to get rid of the problem are highly appreciated.
i got the same boring problem with a new (end 2009) bought macbook pro.
the apple support told me first to reset PRAM and NVRAM, which only worked
for some boots. then the logicboard was replaced, which took the problem away for
around one week, and now...
... IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue is back again and the multitouchpad works only for bout half the systemboots. very anoying! i will call the support tomorrow again, let's see.
Today I installed the ComboUpdate 10.6.2 again. Let's see whether it will help.
(Off topic: After installing the ComboUpdate 10.6.2, Time Machine backup took more than 1 hour)
Thank you very much, Christian! Your investigations have been very useful. I agree now that VMWare (at least v3.x.x) does not seem to be a causative factor, and my own experience with its removal and subsequent apparent "fixing" of the trackpad problem must have been purely coincidental.
The problem has come back sporadically over the past couple of months. It's quite amazing how hard it is to track down the cause! Thanks again for taking the time to write your post. Perhaps you are right that it must be a problem with OS 10.6.2 itself on the MBPs and I join you in hopes that 10.6.3 will fix it once and for all!
it seems that with the help of apple support - after some calls with first level I talked to the 2nd level - my IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue problem has now been solved.
1. I discovered that there was some kind of time correlation between the start of VirtualBox services (VirtualBox was installed but never used) and the first IOHID errors:

VBoxNetFlt.kext, VBoxUSB.kext, VBoxUSBTiger.kext)
c. and deleted the VirtualBox appication from programs folder
2. we emptied all system caches:
- /Library/Caches
- /System/Library/Caches
- /Users/termlich/Library/Caches
3. and checked for other start objects (LaunchAgents, LaunchDaemons):
- /Library/LaunchAgents
- /System/Library/LaunchAgents
- /Users/termlich/Library/LaunchAgents
- /Library/LaunchDaemons
If you would like to have some statistics how often the problem occurs you can
use the following script. First unzip copies of all system.log-files in a directory <dir> and then run the following line:

I have as well solved the issue by downloading and re-installation the complete ComboUpdate 10.6.2 as posted on 4th of February. After the installation of the ComboUpdate I have done an additional rights repair. I have then tested the system for 2 week without any problems. After two weeks I started to install VMWare and other stuff which is loaded during boot as daemon. I'll cross my fingers, the system is now running without any problems for more than three weeks, so I guess it's solved.
I get this error on my MacBook Pro Intel Duo (2.4 GHz) running 10.6.2. It was shortly after boot, in a newly-created user a the time, so VMware isn't even an accessible option:

My Mac does go into spinning ball freeze-ups too often, though it eventually gets out. It just slows performance of tasks on the mac. I've no idea if the one is connected to the other, but it certainly isn't the sort of error I want to see. TechTool Deluxe does say that my RAM is fine... odd, certainly.
