Currently Being ModeratedFeb 20, 2010 6:28 PM (in response to MacBook it works)Do you have previews generated for the photos? This is required for it to work.8-Core Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 20, 2010 6:35 PM (in response to MacBook it works)What a number of us have found to work is to turn off support for Faces, switch to a different Aperture Library (can be a new one created for this), and switch back to your regular library. That should make things visible to the media browser and desktop prefs. Yeah, it'd be nice if it worked with Faces on, but that's probably not until some future update.24" iMac Aluminum, Powerbook G4 (Titanium), Mac OS X (10.6.2)
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 20, 2010 6:57 PM (in response to Ailish Eklof)I have faces and places off. I also started a new library for A3 (the genius representative did it in order to A3 to work), but I cannot see A3 pict on system preferences/desktop. I'll give it a try later on.

Currently Being ModeratedFeb 24, 2010 3:48 AM (in response to MacBook it works)I'm having the same problem. Both my Desktop Background and Screen Saver used to draw off of my Aperture 2 library - worked great. Now after upgrading to Aperture 3, neither of them appear to work with Aperture. Any help would be appreciated!!!iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 24, 2010 5:02 AM (in response to MacBook it works)I had this problem on my i7 but turning off Faces fixed that. Curiously, I did not and do not have that problem on my 24"/2.8 with Faces turned on but I have not recently tried to verify faces. I suspect that if I play with Faces, things will go awry. Even more curiously, the 24/2.8 is the Mac I used to try iPhoto Library Import and all the Faces from iPhoto are functional.27" i7 8GB, 24" iMac 2.8, 1.8SP_G5, (iBook/600, iPod 15), Mac OS X (10.6.2), Willis Faber Slide Rule
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 24, 2010 5:19 AM (in response to Terry Mosher)I can use Aperture 3 pictures in both Desktop background and screensaver, as well as media browser. In the Aperture 3 Preferences, I have
- Faces enabled
- Places enabled
- Previews section
- New projects automatically generate previews
- Use imbedded JPEG from camera when possible
- Share previews with iLife and iWork is Always
- Photo Preview Fit within 1920x1920
- Photo Preview quality is 8 Medium
If it makes a difference with media browser, my Aperture 3 install is running and working great.

Currently Being ModeratedFeb 24, 2010 6:07 AM (in response to MacBook it works)morning... just reading this thread: I also "upgraded" to AP3. My faces (and the map feature) is turned off o/wise the thing runs slower than a wet week (and I have a up spec'd Mac Book Pro).. You end up getting that to work? I too have had that issue.... I like looking at Purple Space but much prefer my old screen shots? I guess its another thing Apple gotta fix...Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7), 160GB, 2.4GHz Intel 2 Duo
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 24, 2010 9:38 AM (in response to arnepulle)The comments about the media browser made me go check mine. So not only can't I use pictures from my Aperture 3 library for desktop background and screen saver, but now the media browser for programs like Pages and iWeb can not access my photos either.
BTW tried turning Faces off - no difference.
I have my library on an external hard drive. Do you think that makes a difference?iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.8)
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 26, 2010 9:42 PM (in response to MacBook it works)I had the same issue and turning off faces + creating a new library then re-opening the original seemed to work for me.13" MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz, Mac OS X (10.6.2)
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 27, 2010 1:24 PM (in response to MacBook it works)I am still having trouble with screen background. After the last two upgrades (RAW and A3.0.1) only new imports are showing as possible images to screen background.
Anyone have the answer for this?

Currently Being ModeratedFeb 27, 2010 1:28 PM (in response to bobwild)Same setup and same results for me. Working fine in all iLife applications I have tried. I also just tried changing the desktop background and the AP3 library shows up fine.
Sorry....Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5)
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 27, 2010 2:52 PM (in response to MacBook it works)This sounds to me like you don't have previews generated for the older files. This is necessary.8-Core Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)
Currently Being ModeratedMay 27, 2010 7:05 PM (in response to William Lloyd)I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and A3 and now have the same problem, where desktop and screensaver do not display my A3 pictures. I tried turning off Faces but still it doesn't work.MacPro
