Q: Smuges behind screen imac late 2009 27" core i7

Hi I am noticing some smudge marks on my 2 month old Late 2009 imac 27 core i7. There are distinct smudge marks on the right side of the screen and the left. Will apple fix this? And if so, do they have a policy where I can have a new imac sent to me and send the old one back? I think this can be done if you give them your credit card info with iPhones right?

Thanks

    Hi-

Do you notice these smudge marks with the iMac off as well? If so, it is probably just some dirt or a fingerprint behind the glass on the front panel.

Yes, Apple or any authorized repair center can do this. 5 minutes tops. You could probably do it yourself (if out of warranty, which you are not) with a pair of suction cups to lift off the glass.

Again- you are under warranty, so I most certainly wouldn't do that.

Some users post being able to get a replacement iMac while their defective unit is in the shop, but those individuals have either had a history of having problems with their order, or were especially forceful in manner.

Don't count on being able to get one.

go to the apple store and have them wipe the glass out and air blast the glass and the panel for any dust, you to have the year warranty so go to the apple store.

I have a small spot size of a few periods. Screen is 1 day less then 10 hours use. It is on my new 2010 08 week 27 inch iMac. I have a 3.06Ghz with the graphics upgrade. When machine is powered off spot is there. Must be a bit of dirt.

So solution is bring it to my apple store for repair?

Since it is a day old I can ask for a refund?

Can I ask for an exchange for maybe a 2010 week 10?

I am not trying to hiJack thread.

I am kind of looking to see who has this problem I see 3 machines for the last 2 days.

LOL I had the exact same situation. I immediately called Apple and they set up an exchange. I think the week 8's now have this new issue...

If everything else is perfect with the computer, get a small suction cup and clean it yourself... I have done mine to remove a few dust spots and it really is easy.

All you need is some rubber gloves, a small suction cup, and your lint free cleaning supplies and some canned air.

Google for it as I think there may be some videos of just how easy this is floating around somewhere.

    OR

take it back and try for an exchange... but what a pain that is...

There is already a thread for this. Please add your voice to this thread. Things do not get addressed unless there are enough complaints.
