iMac running Tiger 10.4.11 "lost" its printers -- a Canon i560 via Bonjour thru an Airport and a Canon ip1800 via USB -- that had worked successfully.

I've done multiple Disk Utility Verify permissions successfully, downloaded and installed the drivers from Canon again, reset the Printer Setup, emptied Trash repeatedly, reverified Disk permissions, and no luck.

Printer Setup sees the printers -- the name and location auto-fill fine -- but the drivers do not show up in the "Print Using" dropdown.

Can I confirm via Terminal/Unix that they installed?
What else has to be cleared?

In Finder, /Library/Printers and /Library/Receipts are empty (Receipts has an Adobe reader item)

Holy Cow! My Receipts folder has 1236 items in it! It should error out checking Permissions if BaseSystem.pkg isn't there... I wonder if they picked up the invisible bit?

You mention Repairing/Verifying the Permissions, but did you Verify the HD first?

Under More Printers, is there not Canon IJ Network, for a kind?

    I'd get EasyFind...

    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11076

    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/8707

Then search your whole drive for canon, Case insensitive, maybe we'll find some Canon Utilities, or where the drivers are.

You wouldn't be using Mozy for Backup would you?

curious if you got your issue resolved. I'm having a similar problem. I'm just trying to get my Laserwriter 8500 driver back!
