Currently Being ModeratedSep 13, 2005 10:11 AM (in response to Henry B.)I only powered down the PC, AE is always on.
Should AE go down first then the network?
I decided to start all over again and sort of document the process. So I brought AE back into my office, direct connect into a port and now the "base" see it but can't open it to configure! Did the reset, which it took, but I can't reopen it to reconfig.

You seem to be having more than the usual share of problems. Since you started posting here a day ago, it seems you have had this working perfectly then not working again on an alternating basis several times already
Currently Being ModeratedSep 13, 2005 4:35 PM (in response to Ed Rutherford)I'm experiencing the same... iTunes 5 doesn't recognize my speakers. Air Tunes is enabled on the AE, but no speakers turn up in iTunes.
I'm currently investigating what might be the problem, and if I discover anything, I'll let you know.
Currently Being ModeratedSep 13, 2005 5:01 PM (in response to Henry B.)I think I found the root problem (a hint from Henry!) ZoneAlarm (firewall) and iTunes conflict! Even if the firewall settings are correct for that IP Range, iTunes does not like it and will not display the remote speakers.
I tested this theory several times to confirm. Started iTunes first, then Zone Alarm, AE and Speakers go away. Turn ZA off, everything comes back. So I am now headed for the Zone Alarm site to see if there is anything I can do about it. Thanks
Currently Being ModeratedSep 13, 2005 10:27 PM (in response to Ed Rutherford)I also cannot see remote spkrs in Itunes 5.0 WHEN configured to connect to my WiFi network. However, when I reset to default settings again and configure for default new Apple network, then Itunes recognizes the remote speakers.
When connected to my WiFi network I was able to access base station so everything seemed fine except for Itunes.
Currently Being ModeratedSep 14, 2005 2:24 PM (in response to mike andrews1)Itunes recognizes my speakers but says they are being used by someone else....not possible through my secured wifi modem.
I've also reinstalled my AE and still having the same problem. 5.0 is the issue! it worked fine right before i upgraded, or should i say downgraded.
Can i revert to the previous version?
Currently Being ModeratedSep 14, 2005 6:00 PM (in response to Ed Rutherford)I have the same problem with my mac powerbook:
- Airport express works fine for internet - I am using it to write this message.
- iTunes plays fine to the "computer" (firewall allows iTunes Music Sharing)
- iTunes is also set to see remote speakers (designated "living room") and the menu button on the bottom right of iTunes lists "living room" along with "computer" as options.
- Stereo system input connections work fine with other devices (I use a monster cable to connect devices such as iPods to the stereo.)
- But when I select "living room" speakers in iTunes, there is no sound.
Suggestions? What am I missing? (I just reinstalled iTunes)
