I have a website that was created in Dreamweaver and hosted on GoDaddy. I would like to use iWeb to edit the existing website. Is this possible?

    You cannot import the webpages.

You have to copy/paste the text, objects and everything else and re-arrange that on the iWeb canvas.

AS I understand it then I can make a website with iWeb that
    1. can read clearly by the main browsers such as Safari, IE, Firefox, Opera etc. and
2.after posting it cannot be edited by iWEb
    3. it can be edited by any web editor such as dreamweaver or simpletext.

    Is this correct?

iWeb stores your website data in a domain file located in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
Although the application is incapable of importing published files and altering them, you can continue to edit the website(s) you created in iWeb and publish these changes as long as you have this domain file.

There's never any guarantee when you are talking about IE. Search the forums for comments on that.

I would not advise someone to assume it is practical to use some other app to update a site created by iWeb.
