Nevermind. Saw in another post that said you can delete pics you imported from camera. Whew.

How well does going from camera to iPad to computer work? That is does it retain file names and metadata from the camera? I'm curious as to whether it would work as as a storage device for travel. Is it true that you cannot copy photos from iPad back to the camera? Thanks.

The post from teb (above) has a link which shows the metadata is preserved after moving images from the camera to the iPad with the connector kit, then from the iPad to the computer. Good news!

    Hi Russ,

No ... unfortunately I'm not a pro. I'm just an amateur who loves taking photos and loves gadgets. The 5D2 was a big and expensive upgrade for me, but it has been worth every penny. I love it!

It would be nice to make money off of taking photos, but I think I can support my family a lot better with my current day job as a software engineer.

Looking at the camera connector in the online Apple store, the USB connector looks very much like the one I had for my iPod photo.

Does anyone else have this old connector and have tested it on an iPad? If so, does it work?

I have the old camera connector and it does not work with the iPad. The new one appears much faster as the old one was verrrrry slow. More is here http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/apple-ipad-camera-connection-kit/.

    Russ,

Good to hear that you can import and export canon 5d mk ii CR2 files. That's extremely good to know. The one question I have remaining is: how do the 5d mk II files look on the ipad? Are you shooting RAW+JPEG, or just RAW? Does the iPad render and process the CR2 files for viewing at a decent speed? How is it for an on-site viewer in that regard?

Have you tried taking the CR2 files and manipulating them at all with any of the third party photo apps? (Photogene, Camerabag, TiltShift, etc). Any luck there?

    Hmm. . . .

    Thanks,

I just saw a video on YouTube showing a iPhone hooked up to the iPad. The poster was able to transfer videos files to the iPad and play them.

I have a 5th gen. nano and will try to transfer videos to the iPad when my camera kit comes in.

Does anyone know why the camera kit is still shipping 2-3 weeks in the Apple store? I order my last Saturday and the email states it won't ship till May 17...what's up with that?
