I have Windows XP & I am having the same problem. I have Itunes V. 9.1.1.12 - the problem started before I did this last update. I hadn’t played any videos for awhile so probably happened with the update before this last one.

The minimizing trick did not work for me.

When I was looking for a fix, I came across an older thread that the person had the people change some QuickTime settings. That didn’t work either but I tried to play the video in QuickTime while I had it open. If I play it in the small window, it plays fine. As soon as I hit full screen, it goes all psychedelic. When I play it in Itunes, the screen is black & you can hear the audio.

    Dear Roy,

Thanks for the advice. I tried to create a new library and import one of the files experiencing the problem but I had the same result. I also have the same problem with safe mode as well.

The videos I have experiencing the problem are kind of large but the smaller files I have are not causing any problems.

For me the video cannot come back no matter what I do, and also my video is blank and black...not white as in your video capture.

This seems to be related to multiple monitors. Normally, I use two monitors and the video will play correctly in a popup window when the second monitor is connected. The external monitor is usually the primary monitor and has much higher screen resolution than the MacBook's lcd. However, if I remove the second monitor and the primary switches back to the MacBook's lcd, the iTunes videos will not play

I can confirm this. I use my Macbook on an LCD Monitor too and use the Macbook Screen for Video Playback while doing Work, Games, etc... on the LCD Screen. For me it helped puting the Video to the Mainscreen(LCD) once and disconnect the Screen. After this, the Video is correctly put to the Macbook Screen when disconnected from the LCD.

Seems that iTunes has to learn this Settings.

I don't really think I am experiencing the same problems. It is just like iTunes used to accept a certain video format that it is not accepting any longer. Because some of the videos in my library work while others do not.

My problem is not multiple monitors or the video format. I only have one monitor and there is not a problem with it. The problem was originally only podcasts, but I am also having problems with music videos that I purchased thru Itunes. I have played these videos a 100 times before without a problem. Since the last upgrade, sometimes they play normally and other times, they are all psychedelic.

it all started when i was running 9.1.0 and then installing PC Tools Spyware Doctor w/Antivirus Suite. no video, NO GAMES, nothing (though i did not have problems with standalone SD). enabling Kernel Compatibilty mode in SD WORKED. then i updated to 9.1.1, and things broke again. but this time only video in itunes. permanently shutting down SD (this software does not allow same session enable/disable) and rebooting WORKED. reenabling (no reboot required) also worked. so the lesson here is, the first suspect might be your security suite.

Why does it say this question is answered? I am experiencing the same problem as shown in the screencast posted above. None of the suggestions here resolve the issue.

I am having similar problems. Videos purchased from the iTunes store used to play fine. Now, with iTunes 9.1 they don't. The audio plays fine but I get the psychedelic screen for the video. I don't see why this question is marked as "answered". I searched through the forum and found several folks with the same problem but no answers as to how to fix it. Has anyone come up with a solution?
