I've scoured this site without any clear answer. Maybe one of the 5 blue mark guys/gals can be of some help.iMac 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.6.3), 15.4" MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM
Currently Being ModeratedApr 26, 2010 2:52 AM (in response to WrongCoaster)I've had the same problem for over a year now. Thought I'd have another look around to find a solution before reinstalling my OS which I think is going to be my next option. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be a very well documented issue.
EDIT: A few potential solutions here:
just about to go and try them myself.

Currently Being ModeratedApr 27, 2010 12:02 PM (in response to MosheA)I've had the same problem after a software update since early March this year. Wondered it might be the update of Safari 4.0.5 or ProKit 5.1. Although I took them to the apple store in london last week, they deleted sleepimage in Terminal and then it turned out nothing changed. However, they just haven't got any clue at all. Then, the other day I tried adding a new user account and removing battery then pressed power button for 5 secs, either way did not work. Indeed we should get their attention. btw, i'm using a mid2008 15" macbook pro on 10.5.8.macbook pro 15", Mac OS X (10.5.8)
