Can't be sure if the problem started after an update, but I tried streaming music via iTunes (9.1.1) the other day and no sound came through. I clicked on the computer/airport express button in the bottom right corner of the iTunes window and after a couple of clicks the button completely disappeared. Now I can't get it to reappear.
I tried iTunes (9.1.079) in my windows XP OS. It too doesn't give the option of connecting via AE. This seems to indicate it's not an iTunes issue, but perhaps an AE issue.
Hope somebody out there has a solution - it would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to get iTunes setup and I see no pop up to select remote speakers.MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

All my software is up to date, I've re-set my Airport Express, the light is green but there is no option in iTunes to connect to speakers and the Airport Utility can't find the Airport Express. Currently Being ModeratedMay 16, 2010 4:54 AM (in response to Gareth Clark)Update - If I reset the Airport Express I can see the AE in the Airport Utility and when I configure it I get to the last screen in the Airport Utility when I am asked to press the 'Update' button to continue. I notice in the summary box that is says the Airport Express is to 'extend a network' rather than to 'join an existing network' which I had set it to. When I hit the update button, the light on the AE eventually goes green but there's nothing showing up in iTunes and it's not visible in the Airport Utility.
If someone from Apple is reading this, please look into it as soon as possible.MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

On Saturday I reset and updated the AE settings and lo and behold, the radio button in the iTunes window which offers the choice of using the airtunes remote speakers reappeared, after mysteriously disappearing 2 weeks ago. It's now Monday (the 24th) and the button is still there. I've tried a factory reset and input the settings, it still doesn't show up. However if I have a look on the menu on my WiFi box, it says that the AE is connected to the Network... however I can't find it in the AirportUtility unless I do a reset on the AE (hold the reset button then plug in). Any help would be most appreciated...Macbook Pro, iMax G5, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Once that's done the AE needs to update the information (the new password). As you probably know, it restarts and that is when I got the Airtunes radio button reappear on iTunes. It's been 5 days and iTunes continues to work via Airtunes. After many tests I found a solution. The problem is the IPv6, the default option is Automatically, when I changed this option to "Off" on each interface where the connection with AirTunes is used the connection happened instantly without problems.
