My company uses Novell Groupwise. I can open the Web version on my iPad using Safari, and it lists the incoming mail, calendars etc. The Calendar works, but the mail will not open. I get the incoming mailbox, with topics and time/date, but any individual message will not open. I bought this thing to avoid taking a laptop on business trips, but if I can't read my email I wasted my money. I tried forwarding the mail to my .ME account, and again, the mail shows up but there is no content. Comments?

I don't really have any suggestions to offer, but we use groupwise webaccess at work and it works perfectly on my iPad. When emails open they open in another Safari window.

My company also use groupwise. I'm also having the same problem, so I just completely gave up. I think the problem is the way your company has the security settings. I was told by the IT in our company that the groupwise is only set for internal use only. If you ever figure out the way around it, please letr me know. Thank you very much and have a nice day.

Check to make sure that Pop Up Blocker is turned off in your Safari settings.

You are awesome...thanks. I was freaking out because I couldn't open my mail. The iPad is really worth it, but I was concerned that something as simple as my work email would have been off limits. You ROCK! Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I was able to access Groupwise via the web until Friday when my university upgraded to Groupwise 8. Now I can access groupwise via safari and the page will load, but I CANNOT open any email. I think the problem is that I can't double-click (required) to open the email. When I log in I don't get any option about basic interface. Anybody know where I would find this on groupwise 8? Thanks so much.

The box to select the basic interface is shown when using safari to view your mail. On the same screen with your log in credentials.
I just did this as i was having the same issue, but the interface for the basic view was horrible at best. Yes you can read your mail, but the interface pain is not worth the "convenience" of viewing mail.

I am interested though in any progress others make in Setting up the apple mail client to work with group wise 8.

This app works well for Groupwise:

The interface isn't much on the aesthetic front, however.

I just got an iPad for Christmas 2010 and I have problems with groupwise in safari but I also find the basic interface very limiting.
My school uses group wise as it's email client and I overheard a teacher who owns an iPhone 4 saying about an app he has which allows him to get his GW emails which is possible through safari anyway on the iPhone.
I looked into it and there are two GW apps, one for mail and one for calendar by which it is possible to open emails and also have multiple email accounts setup to receive emails.
    Works perfectly.

Search "groupwise" in the app store and I guarantee your mail will load and open on the iPad.

Hi. The easiest solution by far is to get your IT department to install Novell data synchronizser basically it's a simple app that can sit on a sles11 server or sles11 virtual server, and it works like a Blackberry server it will push all groupwise mail / contacts / calender etc.. onto your phone into the normal mail app you just logon as if you are setting up an exchange account but leave the domain blank and put in the address your it department will give you for the mobility server. I set one up for our company 25 iphone and ipad users with it. Makes life easy it's instantly synced, delete on one deletes on pad / groupwise etc... can accept meeting requests on the pad / iphone.

    Best thing since sliced bread.

DataSynchronizer really is the way to go. However, if you do not have that ability, the GW Mail app (referenced above) has improved greatly over time. The developer really understands GW and has worked hard to bring new features and functions to every update. I actually end up encouraging DataSynchronizer customers to buy the app as well, because there are often attachment types that don't download to the iPhone/iPad, and popping over to GW Mail to quickly view the attachment in WebAccess can be very useful.

Thank you thank you!  What a simple solution.  You're not going to believe how many of my friends will be thankful for this!  Thanks again!

Thanks!  Clicking on "use basic interface" on login screen worked for me too.  What a relief!
