All sound is suddenly gone. System preferences for sound, under output, says no output devices found. Since speakers are built in, this makes no sense. How do I add the internal speakers as an output device?

I don't know of any methods of adding internal speakers to a computer ... but this is because your computer will automatically add output sources as it detects them, which means it isn't detecting the internal speakers anymore (even if the internal speakers really work).

I have the same problem on my Pismo, because it thinks that there are headphones plugged in all the time now.

Check your sound output sources to see if headphones are an option. Also, plug in headphones to see if sound can still go though that port.

Regardless if that will work, it sounds like your Pismo's sound board has malfunctined (as mine has as well).

You can take your Pismo to your local Apple Store, and they can send it away to have the sound board replaced.

    Jim,

I would first try resetting the PRAM if you have not done so:
