Q: save dvd to hard drive?

I have a 5 year old g4 that has an inop disk drive.....I have purchased a remote drive: I have some store-bought workout videos on dvd's.....is there a way to save it to my hard drive so I don't have to use the external drive each time? That leaves me a lot less to lug around when travelling.....

thanks

Powerbook G4, Mac OS X (10.5.8), inop internal optical drive

Why not just replace the nonfunctioning optical drive in your Powerbook? Loading your hard drive with several DVDs' worth of data is going to fill it up fast. If you have plenty of room (i.e., you'll still have at least 15% of the hard drive free after copying all your DVDs onto it) then maybe it's a reasonable idea. Otherwise, it really isn't.

thanks for your post, but I made the decision a year ago when apple told me it would be $300 to replace the drive-that is why i bought the external drive(under $100)......I only intend to install one workout dvd at a time.....so the space used will be minimal.

So, can anyone tell me if it is possible and how to do it?
