DesktopsThe old trick for water soluble canon inkjets was to place the cartridge -- jets-down -- on a wet paper towel in a zip-loc bag and leave it at least overnight. If there was ink on the paper towel (directly under the jets) in the morning, you are getting somewhere.
Don't get me started on Epson nozzles and cartridges.
I like printers where you can leave it alone and not print anything for a long time, then ask it to print and it prints first time, every time. So I am mostly using laser printers. -

I gave up on Epson printers years ago due to clogged print heads. Had to trash both because the repair cost was about the same as a new printer.
I now have a Canon i960 printer. Over the past 5+years, I have printed thousands of copies with never a clog or jam. One advantage of the Canon design is that, if necessary, you can easily remove the print head for cleaning or replacement. I believe the StyleWriter printer was made by Canon.

May 23, 2010 7:32 PM in response to Afrocatby Afrocat,Oh, and I did print a test page. Nothing on it. It went through on the motions, but didn't actually print anything, though there is plenty of ink because I got ink on me. -

You mean it all leaked out, or it cleared up and you were able to print with it? -

May 24, 2010 6:41 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby Afrocat,No, it all leaked out. Which means there wasn't too much ink left in there anyway...
I ordered a new cartridge, we'll see how that works. -

May 27, 2010 1:17 PM in response to Jan Hedlundby Afrocat,Yes, I'm quite sure the 10 year old contacts were no longer any good...
I bought a new cartridge, however, and it works great. I'll definitely be refilling this one. Thanks, all.
