I have a system installed in my car which allows me to plug in USB devices...I have been successful in plugging my IPod Shuffle into the USB and the IPod appears to charge, but I am not able to play music from it. Is there a setting on my IPod that I need to change to allow it to play on other devices?
Check you owners manual for compatible devices... shuffle doesn't play through
USB. You'll need to connect it through an audio-in using a connector that has built in controls and a patch cable. -
May 26, 2010 10:19 AM in response to 0Ari0by Sarah_Leland,I'm under the impression that other IPod devices will play in this USB system, is that correct? It's just the IPod Shuffle that won't play through USB? -

Oct 14, 2011 6:48 AM in response to Sarah_Lelandby Bhju,Hi Sarah
Dont believe all you hear! I also now have the same issue but initially my iPod shuffle worked through the car via USB enabling all steering wheel functionality to fast forward etc, as well as my HD ready TV. But of late I reconnected the iPod shuffle to a new laptop and synced it to it and since then the car and TV wont recognise it or just say its empty! Even though its full and plays fine via the 3.5 jack plug! Its got to be a setting or something that needs to be used to make it work else why would of it worked the first time!
Sincerely
Bhu

Nov 27, 2011 6:03 PM in response to Sarah_Lelandby 23zip1,My shuffle will play podcasts but not music. Anybodys have any ideas why?

Headphone splitter? Then you just have an AUX cable run through one end and USB on the other, unless there is a circut inside the shuffle (the USB cable seems unlikely due to size) that wouldn't allow this.
Just my two cents.

You have got to try this:-
First connect your ipod shuffle 4gen to your MAC and let it sync, then in the itunes bar you click on your ipod 's name. When it shows your ipod you scroll down and check if there is any thing unusual showing over there. If there is report it to your nearest apple store

re:how can I connect my ipod shuffle to my car
It's nothing that you think of. You connect your ipod shuffle to the USB hub ,then you go to the stereo settings on your stereo then set USB MODE AND BOOM! your ipod shuffle isplaying songs on your car
stereo Or you may use the AUX on your car.
