I have found that it is hard to beat over the ear phones compared to ear buds.

I have high quality sets of both but much prefer the over the ear if you don't mind wearing them.

the cables from monoprice are certainly cheap enough but how about a charging unit to complete the package. Where can I buy the charger to go with these cables?

Well, you get a charger with your iPad. The cables I mentioned were for replacing the ridiculously short one that comes with your iPad. One cable to use and keep with your charger, the other to use with the computer you sync with.

Now if you want another charger, until monoprice gets one, I'd go on eBay or use a shopping bot to find one like this one.....$5.99 including tax and shipping from a top rated seller on eBay:

Same here... Bose Quiet Comforts work very well FWIW.

I got a pair of Panasonic RP-HC55-S Noise-Cancelling Earbud Headphones on wavee that work like a charm...Also, does anybody else have trouble with the apple headphones staying in your ears? Whenever i tried to go for a run the old headphone would keep falling out...

I bought a pair of Koss earbuds and they work great on the iPad! Good bass and clarity. And they don't fall out. I also bought a pair of Sony noise canceling headphones and they are so-so. Overall, the Koss earbuds actually sound better with more bass.

For those having problems with the plug - just make sure you push it all the way into the port on the iPad. It's a little tight at first.
