Hi Everybody,

I uninstalled my last version of quicktime. For some reason I had two on my system so i wanted to erase them both and install one instead. To do this, i used appcleaner which worked fine.

Later, I downloaded the newest version of QT from apple's website but i get this message upon trying to install.

This Version of quicktime cannot be installed on this disk because quicktime X is already present. please use software update to install the appropriate version of quicktime for your Mac.

I tried to use the software update, but it won't present me a quicktime install.

Please advise,

Amichay.

Reinstall it from the Mac OS X 10.6 DVD instead of using anything on Apple's site.

Repair permissions and restart your computer. Please post back w/results.

    "Okay, googled it!"

Also, in your OS Help Menu.

Im having same issue. Tried to uninstall because after data migration to my new imac quicktime wasn't working. Uninstalled with appcleaner and now after installing from osx DVD and repairing permission application crashes when opening. this is pretty annoying.

Anyone out there solve the Quicktime riddle? Haven't been able to install QT for months. I noted the failure happened after upgrading to QT Pro. I've done everything short of doing a full OS reinstall. Have any of you successfully resolved this issue; if so, please do tell. Thanks.
