I had a problem with 10.6.3 and Scansnap S1500M. Got it working with 10.6.4 after reading the uninstall instructions in the user manual on the CD. I believe what I had not done before (weeks ago), is delete the receipt in /Library/Receipts, so I got in the catch-22 you mention of the old version installer saying it's already installed and new version (for SL) saying the old version is not installed. Not sure what did it, it may be because of the snow leopard update to 10.6.4 or something else.Macbook, MacBook Pro, Powerbook G4, Intel Mini

I do not use the CD that came with the scanner; I only use the most recent installers from Fujitsu.
