I've got the AutoPilot from Griffin, and I haven't seen any issues with it. Anyone with one of those and have concerns shouldn't worry; it'll continue to work.

Granted, it interfaces with the iPhone via the dock connector, but eventually goes into the car's audio system via the auxiliary jack, so the USB connection is probably what the issue is with other audio systems.

I've also noticed the "This accessory isn't meant for your device" message doesn't give you the choice of going into Airplane Mode; it just reminds you that you'll probably get interference.

My stereo plays about 10 seconds worth of music then cuts out. The iPhone is still playing but there's no audio. If I unplug the phone and plug it back in it plays again for another 10 seconds then stops.

I'm not thrilled about this either since the only reason I bought this stereo, instead of keeping the factory one, is that you could plug in an iPhone.

I'm having the same problem. I have the factory stereo of my 2010 Maxima. before the update everything worked great now i keep getting the error messages saying its not compatible and it will interfere with sound or something. then freezes, shuts off or will show its playing but no sound what so ever comes out of the speakers. Please fix this asap!! thanks

It was better when we had the choice to put it on airplane mode if it wasn't compatible at least my phone charged and was able to play music.

Hi Had the same problem this morning on my way to work. I have a JVC KD-R601 and as most of you are saying it has worked flawlessly with OS3. Tried a hard reset and nothing is curing it. Will there be a further OS update to fix this?

I have a JVC DVD Touch screen (AVX820) - the player will not recognise the iPhone with update software when I plug it in - tried another 3GS today and all works fine

A fix would be nice or is there anything in the settings that can be changed on either devices to fix this?

    Thanks

    Same here.

Used my 3Gs/3.1.3 quite well for months with my iPod car kit in my Volvo XC60. Upgraded to iOS4 and it does not work anymore. It says "USB not readeable", iPod app plays perfectly standalone. Help !

This happens with nearly every iPhone update. You need to contact your car stereo manufacturer for an update. It is up to them to keep these updated. It may be easier to just buy a new stereo because most stereo manufacturers only guarantee that their units will work with whatever was the current OS at the time of manufacture.

Really annoyed at this I finally get the new os 4.0, go to plug it into my JVC car stereo and the music stops after a few seconds 10 at a max.

Apple you need to sort this out!! And don't try say it's my stereo because it's made to work with iPhone and I spent a lot of money on it so it would work with my iPhone so please fix this issue

    Do apple even read these??

These boards are staffed by users just like you.

Yes the stereo may say it's made to work with iPhone. It is true but only for the firmware that was out at the time. How do you expect Apple or any other company to insure that their phone works with 100s of car stereos worldwide? They can't. It's up to the stereo manufacturer to release an update, not Apple. After all, it the car stereo manufacturer that claims the stereo works with iPhone. The iPhone never makes the claim that it will work with your stereo, do they? Don't think so.

So are you suggesting, everytime a software update is released and the stereo manufacturer does not have an update, I need (amongst others) to spend 600-1000 pounds on a new player?

It's either that or your stereo has a good chance of not working. Look back at every summer around this time. You will see dozens of complaints just like yours

In a way, the stereo manufacturers don't want to update because they want you in there every year to buy a new one.
