I can also confirm that uninstalling Stanza via an iTunes sync fixed the issue. Deleting the app on the phone itself did not help. So I reinstalled and uninstalledmvia iTunes sync. Fixed. Thanks guys!

YES. FINALLY. "I can also confirm that uninstalling Stanza via an iTunes sync fixed the issue. Deleting the app on the phone itself did not help. So I reinstalled and uninstalledmvia iTunes sync. Fixed. Thanks guys!"
    The above method works.

I am unable to open xls or doc email attachments in quickoffice although I can open pdf attachment in iBooks. Does iOS4 on 3G support opening attachments in 3rd party apps?

Does it imply removing the Stanza app from iTunes or is it enough to install/uninstall it via sync?

I deleted stanza over itunes, deleted iBooks, synced the iphone, restarted, but nothing. Still the pdfs shown as low res pictures. Any other ideas?

I have an iPhone 3GS, and had the same problem. PDF attachments appeared as an image of the first page, and there was no way to read beyond the first page or open it in iBooks.

Doing a fresh OS install (or restoring to original settings after upgrading) fixes the problem. I originally upgraded to OS4 and had a couple of other issues that were bothering me. Last night I decided to restore and manually reinstall everything again, and that has rid me of all those nasty bugs, including the PDF attachment one.

I deleted stanza using my phone and it didn't work. Then I reinstalled stanza from within iTunes and then uninstalled again but from within ITunes. That fixed it for me. Now I can read PDF files in mail.

I am having problems with Excel spreadsheets. For example an interest rate of 3.982% is showing on the iPhone as 0.040%, 4.586% is showing as 0.046%

Deleted iBook, Docs2Go, & Air Sharing, plus complete reset of settings, still nothing different. Be careful, it seems you can't trust xls files for now.

Yes. The iTunes solution for uninstalling Stanza worked for me. Thanks.
I also uninstalled Air Sharing, which interfered with the "open in..." button.
I did not uninstall Good Reader. It seems not to interfere with all this. That's surely a well-designed app.

I just tried the reset all settings, but that didn't solve the PDF viewing problem for me, unfortunately.

I tried your trick of re-installing Stanza from within iTunes and then deleting it from within iTunes, but that didn't work either. Still the same PDF problem in Mail.

Removing Stanza through iTunes and resyncing didn't fix my wife's iPod touch, but as I said earlier, it seemed to work on my iPhone. Could be air sharing or quick office causing the problem too. I'm just going to wait for updates to the programs and see if that fixes it as the PDF problem is only a minor annoyance for her.

My wife could not open a PDF on her iPhone, but I was able to open it on mine. Neither of us have Stanza.

The other issue that I have had is when I try to e-mail a photo that I have taken with the iPhone while it is vertical, the photo is rotated 90 degrees in the e-mail. If I take it with the iPhone with the top turned to the left, the photo comes through normal. If I turn it the other way the photo is inserted to the e-mail upside down. Anyone have this problem?

I had this problem with PDFs and DOCs. Opening DOCs was fixed in my case by an update of Readdle Docs. Ever since I updated that app, DOC files open correctly in Mail and I have the option to open them in Readdle Docs. However, for PDFs the problem persists. I therefore assume that it must be something about the way thirdparty apps interact with Mail and hope the issue will disappear as more apps get updated to iOS4 compatibility.

Deleting Stanza alone did not do it for me.
The trick seems to be turning off "load remote images" in the Preferences under Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then check the mail and see pdfs magically open correctly and in whatever app you deem appropriate.
After which you can return to the prefs and turn "load remote images" back on if you wish, and, amazingly pdfs still behave properly in mail.
