Hello,

Every time I add a contact and add their birthday the date of the birthday automatically moves by one day.

For example, I will select someones birthday as the 23rd of march and click done but the contact birthday shows 24th. Even if I select a random date say 1st June, it will say 2nd.

When I go into the calendar app and display the birthday calendar the birthdays are right though, it will have a notification as a birthday on the 23rd.

I have done a fresh restore from a backup and as a new iphone, still I have the error.

I'm thinking that the contact list in iOS4 is set to a specific timezone different from my phones timezone as it adjusts it for a day. I live in New Zealand and my timezone settings are set to Auckland, New Zealand, even in the calendar time zone. When I change my timezone settings to somewhere in the USA it automatically changes the contacts birthdays to the correct date. When I change it back it adjusts te birthdays by a day again. This would be correct as the 23rd in USA would be the 24th here but my contacts are not in a different timezone so why does my iphone think they are? Even if a add a new contact it still changes the birthday date.

Any help would be great.

Iphone 3GS, iOS 4

Yes I am experiencing the same bug with iOS4.

I also live in New Zealand and my Time Zone is set to Auckland. I have also tried turning off Time Zone support but still get the same issue. Birthdays added to contacts are 1 day ahead of the actual date, but show correctly on the Calendar.

I'm having the same issue. I thought it was something I did wrong in the update. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

    Hello,

I have the same problem, and it was the same even for previous versions of iPhone OS. I don't think it's a time zone issue, as I am living in Norway and the reports here are the same from various locations.

However, I think I might have found a workaround for this problem. Normally I have my mail, contacts and calendar synced via Exchange. When I in addition to syncing with Exchange select "Sync contacts with Outlook" in the "info" tab in iTunes on my computer, the dates appear to be transferred correctly. But then again, this gives me several contact groups on my iPhone, whilst I really only want and need one group, the Exchange contacts. Anyway, the contacts appear only once when I select the "group" all contacts on my iPhone.

Hope this can be of any help until the bug is fixed.

I've had the same problem myself and here is what fixed it for me.

The problem goes away when I set the correct year. All the dates that were getting synced incorrectly were set to impossible years such as year 0001 or 1620. The dates stabilized once I set them anywhere past the year 1850.

So unless the contacts in your Address Book are Jesus Christ or Thomas Hobbes, I think it's safe to say that those are implausible dates of birth for your contacts.

I don't know WHY or HOW this would cause the date to be set incorrectly, I just know that this is what solved it for me. Lemme know if it works for anybody else!

I'm having the same isssue, also in New Zealand. The displayed date is one day different from the date i set with the date wheel.

I'm also having a similar issues with a third-party alarm closk ap. When I use the input wheel to select a certain time, the time it then displays as being set to is 4 hours earlier. So, if I try to set my alarm for 9am, it turns out being set for 5am, etc.

Now we're getting close to something, I think. JulieInNZ mentions problems also when using the wheel to select a time.

I have noticed that sometimes, for some people the date has been correct, whilst for most it is one day late. Now I tried to edit the date in Outlook, and the it appear to be correct on my iPhone after syncing.

My guess is then, that when a date is entered using the wheel on the iPhone, it displays as one day late, whilst when entered in Outlook and then sync'ed, it appears correct. However, I haven't tested this enough to draw any conlusion.

Anyone else having looked into this?

I am also located in New Zealand and having same problem. Even editing the birthday within Contacts doesn't work - you can move the date wheel but the data doesn't update.

I've got the same issue here in Holland with my iPhone 3G with iOS4.
My B-day is on July 24th. iPhone changes it to 23rd every time. Tried to 'fool' my phone and set the date to 25th, and YES! It changed it to the 24th. But the second time I started the contacts app it was already set to 23 and right now it's already at 21.
    What the #@^&!

Contacts and Calendar are being synced using Gmail Exchange.
    Region format: Netherlands
    Calendar: Gregorian

There is a reason why I want the dates in my phone... Because I keep forgetting birthdates! And this is not helping!
    Please Apple, get it fixed.

I definitely have this problem as well, although I can't reproduce it reliably. In my case, these are not birthday entries, but "repeats yearly" entries that I have specifically added to my calendar. It's very frustrating! I missed my parents' anniversary because of this bug.
