Q: Why is my visual voicemail gone?

I got my new iphone4 and it seems to be working well. The only weird thing is that I don't have visual voicemail anymore. I had it with my 3G but if I press 'voicemail' on my new phone, it calls ATT voicemail, just like any other phone.
Is there something I should do to reactivate it?
Thanks

Call it a time or two and then it should prompt you for the password on the screen.

Yes, this is a common problem with ios4. The solution is to call 611 and have ATT or your carrier reset your password and then you will be able to set it up again and it should work fine after that. Hope that helps.

Haven't heard that solution, but worth a try...better than the solution I posted if it works. :O)

Have you been asked for a voicemail password? If so, use the password that you used to set up your ATT wireless account. If you cannot remember it call att and get them to reset the password and create another. As I remember, when I created my att acct it was a four digit numerical password, think, what is the most asked for set of numbers you have with "last four digits". Password in and after about a minute my voice mail returned

Yes, I have no idea what that password could be. I'll try my usual one and call them if that does not work

I did the same thing, and it came right back...of course I had to think for awhile...did I really have a password TWO YEARS ago for voicemail? LOL. Anyway, I guessed right and visual voicemail is back.

My visual voicemail disappeared after updating my iPhone 3GS. I turned off my phone after updating, and when it came back up, I went to my voicemail and let it go ahead and dial my voicemail and made sure my greeting was set up the way I wanted to. I did have to listen to the message about recovering deleted voicemails and so on. But after that, I set up my voicemail greeting. When I accepted my voicemail greeting, I simply disconnected my call immediately after and went to the home screen, and went back to the "Phone" icon and to my voicemail and it redialed my voicemail again, and it had another prompt about listening, etc and the last option was to disconnect, so I pressed the option to disconnect (which I think was option #3)and when I pushed that option, it took me right to my visual voicemail screen like usual. Hope this helps!!

^^^^^Referring to post above, I did have to enter my voicemail password before it took me to the visual voicemail screen.

Just noticed that I had lost my visual voice-mail too with my new iPhone 4. When I hit the voice-mail button, it just dialed voice-mail like a normal cell phone would. After trying a couple times, I got a prompt for my voice-mail password and voila, visual voice-mail back.

Ran into the same problem. Didn't know my old pin had to dial in to get vm. Called AT&T customer service line, automated one, selected to reset pin number. Sent me text in Like 1 min with new pin. Problem solved.

Oh, all my previous vvm's were back after that too.
