Yes you have 30 days to return it and your 2 year contract will be cancelled. You need to call AT&T within 30 days and get an authorization to return. Once you get the authorization they will instruct you how and where to return the phone. I've done this in the past with AT&T and Verizon.

Interestingly enough, when I bought my iphone on Friday from Apple my receipt says return date by of July 9th. I remember asking their return policy and the employee said its 30 days since that is AT&T policy of allowing you to try out the phone for 30 days, which is fine for me. But I don't understand why on the receipt it only gives me 14 days for a return date. What's up with that? Which one is right the 14 days on the receipt or the 30 days the employee said and what AT&T says and it even says online for Apple iphone return policy that its 30 days. Hmm, confusing to me.

Returned iPhone 4. Just purchased new black 32GB 3GS and synced. Phone calls - guess what? I can make then and receive them and don't lose any signal, yahoo!

Oh yeah and my iPhone 3GS doesn't slip off a remotely diagonal surface!
Oh yeah and my iPhone 3GS actually has a good sensor in it to detect when it's been pulled away from my face so I don't accidentally dial someone or beep numbers in their ear!
Oh yeah and my iPhone 3GS is more comfortable to hold!
Oh yeah and my iPhone 3GS doesn't lose signal when I hold it "wrong"!
Oh yeah and my iPhone 3GS always worked before I upgraded, and it still does!
Oh yeah and my iPhone 3GS luckily doesn't have any "non-issues" associated with it, THANKS MR. JOBS!!! Phew, dodged a bullet there!

Just picked up my iphone 4 last week. I picked up a bumper, because I never use ANY phone without a case, and guess what? I can make phone calls and receive them, and don't use any signal, yahoo!

Oh yea and my bumper'd iPhone 4 doesn't slip off of a diagonal surface!
Oh yea and my iPhone 4 has no problem with it's sensor!
Oh yea and my iPhone 4 feels solid, not cheap and plastic like the iPhone 3G/s!
Oh yea and my iPhone 4 is plenty comfortable to hold!
Oh yea and my bumper'd iPhone 4 doesn't lose signal at all!
Oh yea and I was fine with my 3G until I realized that the iPhone 4 is superior in nearly every single way!

    Not to mention..

Oh yea, my iPhone 4 has a crisp, clear screen (not blurry compared to the 3Gs), better camera, video and still, can use iOS4 without slowdown, my battery lasts FOREVER, AND:

I am able to get this:

    Can your 3GS do that?

I'm having problems at home too with my iPhone 4. I'm going to get an AT&T microcell and see if that works.

I have no bumper and no problems with iPhone 4. There is a degrade to signal if I cover more than 50+% of the outer band, but it never goes to nothing.

I'm curious if as to whether a particular production run of iPhone 4s or even geographic areas are reporting a majority of the issues. There does not seem to be many in my area, but very small sample of iPhone 4s that I knwo.

The iPhone4 is garbage. I feel bad for everyone who says they are having no problems right now. Cause once there 30 days are up their phone will turn into a lemon just like everyone elses and they will just get lame excuses from Apple and AT&T and be stuck with a brick for two years. I returned mine and will just continue to use the original 3G.

Where are all the posts going? As much as I disagree with istariwhiterider, I don't think any of these posts have gone against the ToS. Censoring at its greatest.

I've pretty much decided to return it tomorrow or the next day. I'm not sure what I'll do then, but I'm tired of forgetting not to hold my handheld phone in my hand and missing calls, etc. I think I'm even more tired of trying to figure out if a fix is on the way. If I don't jump ship before next summer, maybe I'll look into the next iPhone iteration, maybe not. Right now it seems pretty unappealing.

Anyway Apple tech support said just bring it back to the store and everything should go back to how it was, contract-wise. I kind of doubt it, but we'll see.

I received my iPhone4 return authorization number from apple because i was so frustrated with the proximity sensor issue. However, last night i decided to do a restore and set the phone up as a new phone without a backup and to muy suprise this issue went away. I restored again with a back up and the again no issue with the proximity sensor. I know others who have tried this but continues to experience this problem. Hopefully Apple will do something soon. at this moment i am having no problems with my iPhone 4.
