The screen is magnificent and it is so much faster than my old 3G and it looks and feels great.17" MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Phone sitting on desk:
1791 down, 501 up (3G data)
Phone in "death grip" for 5 minutes:
1784 down, 525 up (3G data)
No appreciable difference. Indeed, upload speed increased. Go figureiPhone 4; iPad 32gb WiFi, iOS 4

But there are also many people who have legitimate problems that need to be resolved.Lenovo T-60, Intel iMac , Dell/Ubuntu 8, iPhone 3GS iOS 4, Windows XP Pro, Leopard 10.5.4
Currently Being ModeratedJul 1, 2010 7:25 PM (in response to bmwraw8482)I am very satisfied with my phone too. I have a case on it however. Had cases on all my phones, 6 iphones, 2 blackberry's, 3 palm treo's and countless nokia's and Motorola's. I especially keep cases on my iphones. Just can't see carrying a glass phone without some protection.Imac 20", HP Vista w/42" Samsung HDMI monitor, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 3 Iphone 3G's, 2 iphone 4's, a bunch of ipods and a heap of Apple stock
Currently Being ModeratedJul 1, 2010 7:31 PM (in response to bmwraw8482)Very happy camper here, with both Apple and AT&T. Upgraded from a 3G to a 4. No "death grip", proximity, camera, battery, or other hardware issues to speak of at all. AT&T service in my area is fantastic. Reception is very consistent around the area, data is fast, I've never had a dropped call with either phone, and the local AT&T store CSR's are fantastic.

These numbers are pretty much what I see as well. I don't have 3G at my home but do at work. I do notice speed fluctuations but it is not the phone. It is AT&T. I have an iPad, my iPhone 4 and my friends Blackberry side by side all three running "Speedtest" at the same time and see about the same numbers on each device. Note that I never saw this fluctuation until around the time the iPad was released and even more so since the iPhone 4 release.
Oh yea, and I love the phone. Nothing even comes close when it comes to the display. No dropped calls. None of the other issues reported other then reception which was solved by a case (At least for me anyway.)

Currently Being ModeratedJul 1, 2010 8:13 PM (in response to ggarthe)Very happy with the Iphone. Didn't get it on launch day but got it over the weekend. Happy to say that my Iphone doesn't have ANY of the problems that have been reported. I've attempted the death grip over a million times and not once have I lost signal. Am always showing 4-5 bars even in my house which is incredible. Reception is awesome and the battery is what totally does it for me. I've used the phone more than moderately and have been able to go without a charge for 38 hours. Granted its not 38 hours of use. 16 of them were standby but still. My bb would die after 10 hours and thats including standby. Facetime is awesome and thank god I live in Miami where theres wifi literally everywhere you go. The screen is amazing and the feel of the phone in your hand is solid. Did I mention that the phone lasted 38 hours in a single charge with above moderate use!!! Great phone by apple. First Iphone and I'm pleased. I've had droids, blackberrys and NONE of those phone can compare to this one. Consider me completely SATISFIED!!!iphone 4, iOS 4

No dropped calls. Paired with our cars. No proximity issues. No signal loss. Facetime is fun. Screen resolution is amazing. It's glass on both sides. I figure no matter what one does, glass can break, so our's are double protected, by a hard shell case and then a leather clip case to keep it nice and safe. I think Apple's done a great job with this phone. We went from 3G models, so this is a major leap forward.

Currently Being ModeratedJul 1, 2010 8:26 PM (in response to cedr8)So far so good! Reception is comparable to my "old"
3GS, and there's no issues with the phone itself.
The retina display is incredible. Viewing photos and
wallpaper on this thing is a blast, and watching HD videos
that I uploaded using Handbrake absolutely blows away the 3GS.
Battery life is slightly less than the 3GS, but it's still very
good. Standby through the night the battery indicator barely moves.
This phone is now the King of smartphones.....in a league all its own.Dell Studio XPS 16, iPhone 4 16GB, Windows 7

Currently Being ModeratedJul 1, 2010 8:41 PM (in response to bmwraw8482)Been experiencing the problems with the proximity sensor and reception on my i4. Never had these kind of problems with the iphone 1 and iphone 3G. Took it to an Apple store, and they offered a replacement. Hopefully, the new one will work 100%.
The people on this site claiming that their phone works fine, is cool. It's when they say dumb stuff, like "people are making up the problems or whining", that it's not cool. It reminds me of all those Xbox fanboys who claimed that the Xbox 360 RROD didn't exist and that people should take better care of their stuff. Well we know how that turned out.
Just because your Toyota hasn't accelerated out of control into a fireball on wheels, doesn't mean the problem is non-existent. This is a product support board for people with real problems, not for people to BRAG about how awesome they are for not having any and to belittle those that do.iPhone 4, iOS 4, 32GB

Currently Being ModeratedJul 2, 2010 5:09 AM (in response to bmwraw8482)I wonder what the percentage of iPhone 4's that have the reception, battery life, proximity sensor issue actually is? Probably no way to find out for sure though. And are most of these problems from the iPhones received on the release date? Did Apple change anything in those first few days to fix some issues? I wasn't able to get mine until AT&T got a shipment on the 29th...still waiting for a call from Best Buy to tell me my reserved iPhone is available...iPhone 4 & iPhone 3G, iOS 4
Currently Being ModeratedJul 2, 2010 5:26 AM (in response to bmwraw8482)Hello,
Just to add my 'tuppence-worth'. I have had a 3G for a couple of years and was due an upgrade, and have now had the iphone 4 for a week. In my opinion the Iphone 4 is a superb phone. I have had no reception/ screen issues, in fact the reception is far better than my old 3G.
I am slightly confused about all the uproar. My mate is also delighted. I think its a sad state of affairs when people are trying to take a company to court because a product is not 'Perfect'. I have the bumper, not for reception issues, but because i dropped my old phone after 2 two on the corner and it split open. Luckily managed to get a direct replacement...(the less said about that the better). My advise to any one thinking of not getting an iphone 4 due to these reports of poor reception is: get it anyway! You will not be disappointed. (I do not work for Apple or have any vested interests in promoting this product!)Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.3)
