Is there a way to transfer .txt or .doc file from the iMac or MacBook to the iPhone? I know iTunes transfers pics, videos, and music between the two platforms, but what about textual information?

Thanks, Vince

They are a few apps in the app store that can do this. If I recall, one is called Dropbox.

There are also some third party apps that allow you to transfer files over a wi-fi network. I use docs to go and air sharing.

Search the AppStore for "file transfer" for dozens of options.

You may also do it via iDisk MobileMe or google docs on several apps.
On most of the iOS updates they now include local file sharing via iTunes iPhone selection screen.

I still don't see this file sharing pane. Where is it? And what do you mean by "most of the iOS updates"?

First, turn off your CAPS lock.  Typing in all CAPS indicates shouting.

Second, read the 2 and a half year old thread to which you replied.  It specifically answers your questions.  As for if or when iTunes will support this, only Apple knows that.  Rumor and speculation is not permitted here.
