I think i posted a topic about this some time back, but i thought i would again. i have this JVC HD camera, and i would like to import the video into FCEHD. but i was having a lot of trouble with it. i spoke to a JVC sales rep awhile back, and he said there was something i needed to download in order to do it. i called him yesterday, and he hasn't returned my phone call yet. i just thought i'd post a topic on here to see if anybody knew what he was talking about. if anyone could let me know what exactly i need to do in order to import this video, i'd really appreciate it.

hey, thanks.

Hi-- I have a JVC hdgr1us also. I'm able to capture to fcehd by setting it to mpeg2 and the appropriate sd/hd; fce int. codec 60i. I have to press play on the camera then go to capture and let it roll. Sometimes I have had to flip the dv/mpeg2 switch once to get it to work. Hope this helps you--

After my previous post to your thread, my computer quit working properly and I deleted and reinstalled both QT 7.0.3 and FCE-HD. I now am able to capture HD footage with the camera set to HD (on lens barrell) and mpeg2 set on the firewire output switch. FCE easy setup is apple intermediate 1080i/60. I have to unplug then replug the firewire cable on the camera and rolling tape before going to capture. I can also capture SD video with all the exact same settings, but am not sure exactly what form it's going onto the computer in! DV video is via ntsc-dv codec and camera set to dv/dv.

    Best regards, Manson

Manson, I have the same problem. I did what you suggested and it does capture, but what i'm not able to do is log + capture. Does that work for you?
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I could be wrong, but I don't think FCE has this capability with HDV capture. Probably something to do with working in the AIC and not accessing the timecode, etc.

With standard DV you can capture a clip or capture now.

With HDV you can only capture now.

With Standard DV you can hand ball an XML file together to do a batch capture

I'm sorry but you're already over my head! I'm struggling to learn enough to just be an incompetent user of the software.... It is pretty incredible to me that neither apple nor jvc has bothered to put up a simple page that answers questions like how to set everything for digitizing, etc.
