you get the ip4 yet ? you seem to have a lot of posts so i can I take your word on things, right? Will a case fix this problem 100% Im patiently holding out for a white IP4 and I really don't mind having a case on it but I will literally be screwed and my business could go under if my phone isn't able to make and receive calls. Whats your take on this whole thing? should I just keep my 3gs and hope apple recalls the phones and fixes them or do you think ill be ok with just a case and still be able to reaps all the benefits without risk ? Thanks !

Currently Being ModeratedJul 12, 2010 11:03 PM (in response to jondeak)i dont know if youre talking to me but from what i have read, if youre having problems. a case should do the trick. the consumer report thats out right now says that the 3gs is still the best iphone.i dont know, who cares
Currently Being ModeratedJul 12, 2010 11:05 PM (in response to jondeak)A case will fix your problem about 80%. I just got my case today and although I can still see a significant drop in signal when holding it in my left hand, the one thing that doesn't happen is the complete drop into "No Service..." which I can do easily without the case.
So maybe, just maybe with a software patch that recalibrates the baseband radio, we can stabilize these things.
And before anyone asks why I don't just switch to an EVO or some other forsaken piece of ****, this is the forsaken piece of **** I have chosen, I have learned to use, I require for my job. No one phone is right 100% of the time for 100% of the people. Not even the EVO.Mac Mini / iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.6.4), 160GB SSD HD, 2GB RAM
Currently Being ModeratedJul 12, 2010 11:10 PM (in response to Weylin McConnell)I tried using my buddies EVO 4 the other day and the OS seemed like it took too much effort to learn. People think that apple sells shiny expensive phones but in reality I personally am paying for that awesome user friendly Operating system. Im sorry but I just don't like android...Its just too much to handle. I need my stuff at my finger tips. No offense to anyone who has android.HP laptop, Windows XP

Currently Being ModeratedJul 12, 2010 11:14 PM (in response to jondeak)Here's my take.
I don't give a hoot about Consumer Reports or RF engineer tests. I care about MY real world performance. In my case, I put a case on my phone even before I activated it at home. Not because I heard about any antenna problems, but because I'm a klutz and I've broken a previous iPhone. For the past 2 generation of iPhones I've used, I've never used them without a case.
That being said, I have not had any issues with my IP4. Of course, it's in a case. Would it have problems outside the case? Not sure, but that's not the way I use my iPhone. So for me, for the way I use the phone, I'm very happy.
On the other hand, if my normal experience was to use the phone without a case and I was experiencing problems with it, then I would have no hesitation to return it. I work hard for my money and I would return anything that didn't work the way I wanted it to.
No one knows what Apple will or will not do with this new CR information. The 30 day period for those users who received their phone on release day is drawing near. Barring any new statement from Apple, I would recommend those users return their phone before the 30 days are up if they are unhappy.
Will I return mine? No, but again, for the way I (and I can only speak for myself) use the phone I haven't any problems.
So, Jondeak, what I would recommend is to wait for now if you've not ordered a phone. See what position Apple takes before July 23, when the 30 days expires for those who received their IP4 on release date. If you've already ordered the phone, try it out. If it works for you the way you normally use a phone, great. If not, return it.
Hope this helps.
