Q: Bought a used G5. Will my old Laserwriter Select 360 work with it?

hey guys,
I have a 15 year-old Apple Laserwriter Select 360 printer. It still works like a champ. I am finally getting rid of my old G4 450Mz machine. I am buying a used G5 from my employer (Mac OS 10.5.8 installed). I want to keep my old printer. Will this G5 work with my old printer. Also, where can I find the drivers for it (the old drivers were in 3.25 floppy which I can no longer read)?

G5, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

It should be mentioned I'm running Ethernet, and am using a D-Link router.

I think it should work fine. The printer is a PostScript printer and the drivers (PPD) are already installed in OS X 10.5.8 and AppleTalk is still supported in Leopard.

You mentioned that you are using Ethernet. How are you connecting the printer to the computer? Most likely via an AsanteTalk device?

Not sure how I'm going to connect them yet. I have an Ethernet device that is between the router and the printer. I'm hoping this will allow me to connect the two. I really won't truly know what I'm working with until I disconnect the old computer and hook the G5 up.

Connect it just the same way you connected it to your Blue & White G3, and it will work fine.

The LaserWriter driver and PPD files for Mac OS 9 through 10.5 are already installed -- no need to pick through diskettes.

You probably have an adapter box with Ethernet in one side, and a phone wire or a printer wire out the other side. Remember that box must be powered up LAST, after everything else is stable and ready to go.
