Mine rattles too, around the power button. If I hold the power button down it stops rattling. Don't think it is a big problem.

I've got the rattle too. It's definitely a very loose power button. The Genius in-store didn't wanna know, saying they all have "niggles".

Think I'm going to go back & replace it because it rattles when I tap the top left of screen or type in landscape..

Whoa, seriously? I can totally see someone getting mad at that and causing an issue. That's funny that he used that term though.

A Genius at my local Apple store was overheard calling the rattles "piggles" and was promptly escorted out of the store in restraints.

Ha, yes. He also said that I "have really high standards". Maybe.. I've just spent £500 ($750) on a phone.

New Genius booking for Thursday, I'll update then.

you're able to move some buttons a small fraction like every button on anything, it removes the friction of pressing the button.

im able to wobble the sleep/wake button so that would be where you get the "rattle" from.

I never noticed my iPhone 4 make this rattle noise until last night when I just laid the phone down next to my bed on the carpet while charging it. It's had a case the entire time and I've never dropped it, so I was a little surprised to hear the very faint rattle. I took the case off thinking maybe it was some type of contact noise between the rear glass and the silicone case, but it still made noise. It only makes noise when I gently tap the back of it closest to the camera. The noise goes away the further away I tap from the camera location. Holding the volume, silence and power buttons did not help. So it's not the buttons making this noise, it's something inside near the camera.

Had my iPhone 4 32GB since launch in June and only noticed the rattle last night like cam2099 when laying it down on the carpet.

Found this thread by Google and mine is definitely around the camera and LED at the back and not the buttons as t still rattles if they are held down.

Do have to tap the corner fairly hard to make any noise. I suppose it is some comfort to know that others are having it but still seems unacceptable for such an expensive device.

My phone also has the same rattle. I plan on visiting the retail store near me and testing to see how many of the display models have the same problem and make a judgement on if I want to get a new one that does not have the se problem. I wonder if it is near universal? Thoughts?

I've just had mine swapped out because of extreme rattling (see my above post about "niggles"). New one, my 3rd & hopefully final I4, now has rock solid home, sleep/wake & volume buttons.. They do exist! One tiny dead pixel though..

They wont listen, I remember the same thread about the 3GS even the same ideas about buttons, we all knew it was the camera you can even test it when it auto focusses as its stops just about, sometimes people need to read what's in front of them and think for a few minutes. People its the autofocus camera which has a moving lens, not that you will read this of course. Maybe your CPU is lose on the motherboard....camera people its the camera get a grip for crying out loud.

Mine rattles too, but I think it is something to do with the orientation sensor. I have had cameras that rattle, they also have an orientation sensor. It is usually a small ball bearing that tells the phone / camera which way up the device is and orientates the screen to match.

I'm not going to get anal about it......

    Mine does it too.
Finally seems to be the sleep/wake botton. Stops rattling when pushing it hard.
