And other small bugs they won't list.
I will say (since I only have original phone and my wife is has 3G) that her 3G's iPod app was really giving her issues with 4.0 but not since 4.0.1

Currently Being ModeratedJul 18, 2010 9:00 AM (in response to Jim Mauro)I updated mine yesterday. A 3GS bought in december. I'm not happy at all with the update: First, in places where I used to have 100% coverage, now I have 50-70%. Also, yesterday I made a travel to a little village where there were no phone coverage at all, and when I came back home, the signal didn't came back. I realized this morning, after all the night without phone coverage, and had to disable and enable Flight Mode for a second. After doing it, I get 100% phone signal again.
I'm very unhappy with this 4.0.1 update. I think Apple should leave the antenna issue and algorithms for iPhone 4, and let the 3GS and the other models as always were. I never had a problem with the phone signal, and I don't want to start having them because of iPhone 4's controversy. I'm happy with my 3GS phone signal, let it alone Apple!

Currently Being ModeratedJul 18, 2010 9:18 AM (in response to Almarmar)If you've been tracking the information on this, you'd know that your actual signal strength has not changed. The algorithm used to display the signal strength bars has changed to be more accurate.
So where you once had 5 bars and you now have 3 does not mean you have a weaker signal - it means you always had 3, but the previous algorithm erroneously displayed 5.iPhone 3GS 32GB, iPhone OS 3.1.3, 3GB RAM, 200GB HD, LaCie 250GB + 500GB External

Apple is just trying to push this issue on to AT&T and I am a fan boy with more apple equipment then I can put in my profile
4.01 has made my reception worst and on my 3GS I updated last night after vacation and now today I get one call and it drops that never happened before in my house. I have 6 I pads and 3 other 3GSphones I will not be upgradingI7,15"imac,3 macbooks, 2 macbbokpros, 2 mini's, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 3 iphones, i PODS - 1st gen, 4gig nano, 2 3rd gen, 3 minis & one 5 gen, 4 touche
Currently Being ModeratedJul 18, 2010 2:50 PM (in response to Jim Mauro)I have on friday upgraded to 4.0.1 Before this the 3g signal was fine never lost it and my non 3g signal was always goood.
now i have upgraded i am getting very weak 3G signal and alot of time it starts saying searching. After which i get no signal and my phone might as well be thrown away.
If i turn the 3G off i get a full 5 bar signal and I can instantly use my phone again. This has only started happening since the update of from 4.0 to 4.0.1.
Is there a reason for this ? also how can it be fixed as my signal in the area i live in is brilliant. My friend is still on 3.?.? on his 3GS and he has full 3G signal all the time. my other friend is on T-mobile and again when in my home as full 3G signal.Apple Iphone 3GS, iOS 4, 4.0.1
Currently Being ModeratedJul 21, 2010 5:31 AM (in response to Scpicker)@Scpicker i am having the exact same issues as you, i noticed this morning after upgrading to 4.01 that my signal strength has been erratic, i take the same journey every day to work and the signal along that journey varies but i tend to have a connection for majority of the journey, i noticed this morning that now most of my journey my phone is searching.. for most of the journey.
I am sitting in my office now in the centre of london and the signal strength has always been full 5 bars, but now my phone is showing 2-3 bars, so i tried your theory and as soon as i turn off the 3G, Boom 5 bars straight away, turn it back on 2-3bars.
I understand they have made some changes and i understand what majority of you are saying, the signal strength is the same but 3 bars is now the new 5 bars, i get that, But then does that mean that the new 2-3 bars is NO SIGNAL, as that what it appears to be.
I beg you to give it a go, if you use to have 5 bars originally but after upgrade now only get 3 bars, turn off 3G see if you get the same results as usWindows XP
Currently Being ModeratedJul 21, 2010 5:41 AM (in response to Jim Mauro)I am still having problems with my phone after the update - usually when I am in a call! The phone will suddenly freeze with the Apple logo in the screen and will be totally unresponsive. It will then right itself several minutes later.MacBook Pro 15, iOS 4
Currently Being ModeratedJul 21, 2010 5:46 AM (in response to Jim Mauro)I upgraded my 3GS yesterday and now I can't seem to get service in some areas where I used to get great service. My phone is either "searching" or stuck on "no service" and nothing seems to help - Airplane Mode, Reset, Hard Reset. I can't say I really had any issues before the 4.01 upgrade and I certainly didn't have issues with getting service before the upgrade. So I have to say this upgrade is just a big disappointment, creating more problems than it alleged to solve.3GS, iOS 4, 4.01 upgrade
Currently Being ModeratedJul 21, 2010 6:10 AM (in response to Jim Mauro)I was very pleased with the 4.0 update. I updated to 4.0.1 on Monday and no problems with the phone or signal. Feels like im getting an "honest" signal after the update, as before it would go from 3G to a few bars GPRS in a few seconds, whilst now its maintaining the signal more consistently.iOS 4
Currently Being ModeratedJul 21, 2010 7:14 AM (in response to Jim Mauro)I am not very happy with the the upgrade 4.0.1 which causes problem to me and my friends. We have no signal and 3G issue before the upgrading and showing 5 full bars most of the time and 3G speed was fast. After we upgraded, we experience our phone showing 3 bars mostly, the most 4, and robotics conversation during a call also the 3G speed are very slow after the upgrades. Great now Apple might have solved the problem for iphone 4 but hey as 3GS phone owner we having an issue here. Are you going to solve for us? PLEASE FIX IT!!!Windows 7
