    hi there.

i also face the same issue. just bought my iphone from NZ but i am in Fiji. whenever i set the DOB, iphone stores a different date. and by the looks of it, Apple doesnt gives a sh*t about this problem. maybe they are more focused in rolling out Iphone 4 and making $$$. If only i had steve jobs email address, i would send an email to him highlighting the issues and to stop rolling out new version of iphone without fixing the current bugs.

I have same problem in Japan. I sync iPhone contacts with Google contacts by Exchange. Every time I changes some field in a contact on iPhone, then birthday get a before date.
Ex. Originally DOB is Nov 25th and change name then it will be changed to Nov 24th.
Change address then it comes Nov 23rd.

I have updated iOS 4.0.1 but the behavior does not changes.

If I change DOB of the contact to Nov 25th on the Google, then it will be back what I set in the Google and also on the iPhone.

Work around is not change contacts on iPhone and change it on Google (or Exchange Server) side.

Hope Apple to fix the problem ASAP.

I have the same issue: in NZ, 3GS, iOS4 - birthdays pushed forward by one day (but not all of them!)

Has anyone tried updating to the 4.01 release to see whether this deals to the problem?

I have downloaded the release, but am a bit reluctant to apply the patch until I see some feedback from people braver than me - I have been less than impressed with Apple software....

No problem with birthdays pushed here in Europe - BUT I discovered another strange bug today. Any birthday entered in the address book with the year set to 1932 or less just doesn't show up in the calendar! It must be a calendar bug because other applications like Occasions, which also gets birthdays from the address book, report the birthday correctly.

Yep, seeing this on my new iPhone 4.

    Very frustrating (also in NZ).

Any fix? Or are we hoping its sorted in 4.1?

Hey there all (and APPLE if you're listening!)
I just went from Auckland to Melbourne and back again, for three days. Changed iPhone calendar and time zone to melbourne, and then back agin on my return. When I landed back in NZ, all of the "all day" appointments were out by a day again. I opened my laptop, and everything there was OK. I deleted the calendar from the iphone, and then sync'd it again, and they all came back to normal. Hope this helps.
    APPLE, anyone there?

I am in Australia, and it definitely has nothing to do with the year. I have entered the correct year of birth for all the birthdays, and obviously, none of them are Jesus Christ. Also, in my case the date goes backwards, my son, for example, is now 5 days older than he is. So, in my case I will be wishing people happy birthday too early, not too late. It does show correctly on the calendar, which I never noticed before, because I usually use an app called Occasions, which does not show it correctly

I don't sync with Outlook, but with Google. However, just tried adjusting the date in Google and was getting optimistic for a minute, because the correct date appeared on the iPhone. However, it lost a day a few minutes later, and then another day about 5 minutes after that.

Yes, same here! I transferred all my important dates to the iPhone from my ancient (and always reliable) Sharp organizer, so now have no records of these dates anywhere else, so I am *not amused*! Unless they fix themselves, even if they sort out the bug, I have no records that I can look up to adjust them.

I have a feeling this predates OS4. In March, Occasions (a reminder app I use) reminded me of my cousin's birthday. I was surprised, I thought (for a change) I knew her birthday and it wasn't supposed to be for quite a few days. I checked her Facebook page, and when I saw that my memory was correct, I just presumed that I made a mistake when I entered in iPhone. I corrected the date, didn't check to see if it "took", and didn't give it another thought. I now realize that it wasn't my mistake after all and yes, her birthday is incorrect again. But what is even worse is that it doesn't seem to happen every time (and in most cases, I have no idea of the correct date) I just checked one I do remember, and that one IS correct.

I don't think that will necessarily work. I just entered my birthday, through Google, it synced over to the iPhone correctly, but since I've been reading this thread, I have gotten 3 days older

I haven't made any changes at all, still keeps losing a day, every time I have a look at it. Perhaps it changes every time you view it?

I have this problem for ages now. Sometimes the dates even shift multiple days. Because of this I deselected the birthday calendar. I don't know wether this is a Google or an Apple bug, but I hope it gets fixed soon.

I just discovered something. Could some of you please check if they could replicate it. It was mentioned that the date is correct in the calendar app. Well, I just checked my son's (who is now a full 8 days older ) and the date was incorrect. So, I checked the calendar app and it did show his correct birthday. However, when I checked the calendar on the incorrect birthday, that too showed his birthday. FWIW (no idea what it means) the incorrect birthday has a red bullet point (with all-day next to them) and the correct one has a blue one. Also, the incorrect one shows his full name (as it appears in the Contacts list) and the correct one only his first name. I have no idea where that info comes from, but am hoping that there is someone reading this that has more understanding of the workings of the iPhone and this info may ring a bell. BTW, as a test, I entered my birthday in Contacts - that is only showing on the incorrect day (I am now 5 days older), not the correct one.
