Q: I get "error code 0x80020022" when I try to write to disc.

Try a new disc and lower the BURN SPEED to 8x from 24x. I had the same issues, many discs ruined and just now made three copies by simply lowering the burn speed.

Let us know if this solved the issue.

Try another disc. If it still fails, try another brand of disc. Searching discussions for the error code reveals that the vast majority of errors are solved by using a different (often name brand) media.

Three different brands of high quality CDR tried - to no avail. Same error code all the time. The weird thing is, the drive just burned a music CD with no problems from within iTunes, so it sounds more like a software issue than a hardware issue.

Perhaps this is an ongoing bug with OSX Leopard, Snow or otherwise, because I don't recall this popping up on the forums previously, and certainly, I never had any issues before I upgraded to Snow Leopard last year.

Doesn't make sense that a drive will work seamlessly in iTunes but not in Finder. It's got to be software.

I have had this problem for about a year now. I have found no solution to this problem either. My drive will burn CDs and play DVDs and CDs but gives me the same error code 0x80020022 every time I attempt to burn any type of DVD. Never had the problem till I upgraded to 10.6.

I have been trying for some time now, and cannot burn ANYTHING to a DVD. The error I'm getting is:

The disc can’t be burned because because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022).

I've had to replace two drives already, and all my systems have had nothing but problems with apple's "super" drives.

Anyone know what's going on here? I feel like demanding a new laptop, but it appears that even the new systems are having problems.

I miss the old days, when "everything Apple" was "Everything flawless."

I've been getting that issue too. After wasting a few discs, I reduced the amount of data I was trying to burn. Its seems to have done the trick.

Yes, Apple needs to address this, pronto. This is extremely annoying behavior. I need to burn data DVD's dammit. Shame on you, Apple!

I have had the same problem for a week - weirdly, right after I dowloaded and installed the whole list of udates.

So I bought the best DVDs money could buy at the nearest Circuit City, I fixed the authorizations and it still gives me 0x80020022.

Plus, now, when I try to burn DVDs, it only gives me one speed, so even if I wanted to set the burn speed at its lowest...

Googling this issue brought up forum threads from 2006, so this is not a new problem.

This post, basically, is to say this: very expensive DVDs from major brands AND fixing the authorizations do not always help. Thank you. Please... someone fix this ?

If you are having these problems with writing discs you could be using the wrong software I currently use Toast to do all burning of discs. Apple burning software will not work. Have never had any problems with Toast. I have 2 macbooks 1 macbook pro 1 Imac G5 and 2 other macs use the same for all no problems

I just discovered this same problem on my new iMac. Tried burning through the finder and with Toast. Does not work in either case.
