Everytime I come out of the LRT (or subway for you other folk) tunnel in Edmonton, my iPhone 4 never gets reception until I do a soft reset. This is really annoying. Anyone else having this issue?

iPhone 4 32GB, iOS 4

That constant resetting has to be frustrating! I have no problem in the NYC subway.

Instead of a reset, just turn Airplane mode on for a few seconds, then off.

If you do nothing it will eventually connect again. This is common behavior in almost any phone. When it loses signal it tries to regain it immediately. If it cannot it waits for a few seconds, then tries again. It keeps repeating this, waiting longer each time, until signal is found again. It does this so you don't run the battery down trying fruitlessly to connect.

This happens to me when leaving a building with no reception. It takes a good minute or two for it to bounce back the 3G signal.

It's a ten minute ride once I'm aboveground and then I walk to my condo, and STILL no service. This happens every time I come out of the tunnel.

You can try resetting your network settings...

From the Home screen choose *Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.* All your preferences are reset, but no data or media is deleted.

Also, I'd call the carrier (i.e. AT&T) and see if you're not the only one having this issue.

Reset my network settings. I will test it coming out of the tunnel later today.

No luck. I am stuck with No Service until I flick Airplane Mode on and off....this has got to be a glitch.

I would probably restore the device as a new phone, then test it again.

If the behaviour still persists, I would take it in to a genius bar for service. You shouldn't have to put up with that.

It's a simular problem to a tread reporting the phones going into a "searching..." mode after going in and out of coverage or having week coverage and a seemingly relationship with 3G.

It appears to me to be a software bug in the cell network identification. If only some diagnostic tools were avaiable for log files it would be helpful. Apple needs an error reporting function for Iphone4 like in their regular OSX.

Going in and out of airplane mode or turning off and back on seems to kick it into working. If someone would write an app where it's just a one touch reset that would at least help. Apple should add to their code a automatic reset if it is caught in a "no service" or "searching..." loop for a period of time it should automatically restart the sequence to see it can get out of it.

Phone went into a restore mode loop after updating to 4.0.2. Fiddled around by using different USB cables and finally got it back up, but my phone was wipe.

Tested it again and my issue is unresolved. I will be taking it to the Genius Bar to have it looked at.
