Hi, the jack on my ipod classic recently lost all sound in the right channel. I took it along to the Apple Store in Glasgow but all they could offer me was a discount on a new device, which is too expensive and seems a waste since there's nothing wrong with the one I have other than one tiny strip of metal. They advised me to send it to a third party repair company but I don't know which one to go for. Anyone used such a service? Can you recommend which company is best?

Have you tried blowing some compressed air in there, or using a toothpick or something to try to clean it out? Sometimes mine gets some pocket lint wedged in there, and these usually do the trick.
Otherwise, I see iresq recommended a lot on these forums. I haven't tried them myself, but I've heard only positive reviews.

    Good luck.
