Q: Trusteer Rapport bank security software - anything positive?

Hello, I'm new to this, just joined. I have been reading posts here for quite some time and have found it very interesting and helpful. Trusteer Rapport software has got me really worried. Why are major banks, including my bank, pushing this in a big way? What is in it for them? It is Snake Oil (is it?) Is it that the banks want us to try it, it then messes up our computers, we then remove it after wasting a lot of time, the banks can then wash their hands of any responsibility for losses because we're not following recommendations. We're not quite there yet but they could be working up to this. I see from my bank download page there is a Mac version but not up to OS X and Safari versions I've got. I've read ~bee's comments - like 2 versions of Norton at the same time - I know exactly what you mean! I did actually try Rapport six months ago, it behaved itself for a few weeks, then caused trouble. Removing it cured everything instantly. Sorry if the following has already been mentioned here, probably has, but if nothing else this should be checked out: Google > trusteer "snake oil" viega < click I'm Feeling Lucky. The first short paragraph alone is very interesting, that almost noone dares to criticise companies with powerful backing.

20" Intel iMac mid-2007, Mac OS X (10.6.4), 3 external Firewire Iomega drives, Samsung ML-1610 printer, HP Scanjet G2710
