Q: "unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes store is temporarily..

I rented a movie from iTunes yesterday and have been unable to download the movie. It says that it is "unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." I know that a lot of people on other sites have reported having the same problem. I though that by downloading iTunes 10 the problem would be fixed but it is still not downloading. Does anyone know any solutions?!

It STILL won't work!!! I completely deleted everything Apple off of my computer and then reinstalled- still NOTHING.

I'm baffled. iTunes will download songs and apps, just not my video!

I am having the same error. Of seven weeks of a season pass, this is the second time I have had a delay in being able to access my purchases. Frankly, this is a massive waste of money -- Apple, Comcast will be receiving my money again soon, not you.

Same problem. Can't download season pass episodes on my PC or my wife's macbook. Upgrading to iTunes 10 had no effect. I am able to purchase new music, so iTunes is only refusing to download the season pass episodes that I've already paid for.

I wrote an email to iTunes support, so we'll see what happens in 48 hours.

I found a thread on macrumors that describes this issue. Several people got it fixed by doing the following:

    +From jonny5009:+
+Got it fixed! It's a pain but you have to call apple care and tell them your available download queue has an error. Then say you researched the apple discussion boards and the fix for it is to remove all the downloads in the queue and credit your account back. It took an hour on the phone last night to get them to do it, I must have called at a peak time but it's all fixed!+

Another thread that says the only fix is to call apple and have them reset the queue:

    +From DocJekl+
+I spoke to a supervisor at AppleCare who put me on hold and had the iTunes store reset my downloads so everything from the date the problem started would download (108) and now everything is fine.+

Mine is now fixed. I got an email from Apple support about 16 hours after I wrote them saying that they had reposted the episodes. I did the "check for available downlads" command and the episodes showed up right away.

I'm having the same problem. I con no longer download purchased content. Each time I check for available downloads I get an error message that says "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

The screen says I have 17 itunes downloads available but cannot download them. The most recent purchase I am not able to download is Season 3 of Dexter in standard def and some other season passes. This is really annoying; I already paid for the content and am not able to watch it...

Guys: I just did what weber mv suggested from July! on this thread and this problem is now fixed. You have to have the applecare representative call the itunes store and reset your downloads. After 2 hours on the phone today with applecare and they tried everything, and removing and reinstalling the new itunes version, which did not fix the problem, I found this link and post on the discussions boards, and told them to do this with the itunes store,... The applecare rep, put me on hold, called the itunes store, and they reset the downloads on my account and now everything is working. It worked immediately.
