It appears to be definitely a bug in setting a time zone for NZ.

Everything is perfectly fine on my Mac Address Book and iCal.

However, on my iPhone 3G (iOS4.0.2), the dates in the contact list appear to be two days later, but only in the contacts list, and only when the time zone is set to NZ. For example, a birthday of September 15 appears as September 17 in the contacts app (on the calendar it appears as 15 still). If I change the time zone to Australia, for example, the contacts app displays the correct date.

Thus, I believe it's an issue with how the contacts app chooses a date to display. The date in the entry is 'correct', but when you change the time zone to be NZ, instead of using the current date and +1, then -1, it adds 2 or something.

On my iPad, the date is out by one only.

An odd effect on the iPhone calendar is that some birthdays also appear twice on the calendar - one on the correct day, and one on the day after.

Hopefully it will be fixed on day. Might be a good idea for as many of us to submit feedback here - http://www.apple.com/feedback/

The iPhone 4 has had so many little issues.
I was hoping 4.1 would fix it all. It has not.
This birthday problem is just one of many little problems.
I have had a typing issue a few times. Having to close what I am doing to make it work right again. Proximity sensor issues. It is somewhat better but I put someone on mute three times last night.
    Screen capture stopped working twice.
    Screen will not rotate sometimes.
    Lots of rebooting needed.

I hope it all gets fixed.

I would suggest everyone having this issue to either phone Apple or email them a bug report.

It looks like a genuine bug and I’m sure Apple will address it if we let them know we are all being affected. Please don’t be abusive when contacting Apple. That will just work against us.

I did this several weeks ago, and had absolutely no response from anyone at Apple, not even an acknowledgement that they were aware of the issue and were working on a fix.

Anyone that treats their customers like that doesn't deserve to have any customers!

So they no longer have my custom.

With the daylight savings change today I had yet another lovely surprise from Apple - my alarm was set to the right time in the Clock app, but instead went off an hour early. Brilliant - if you're trying to lose customers.

I agree with johcar. even i left a message with iphone but got no reply or acknowledgment.

Apples customer care ***** and i can say that to Steve's face. I am 150% sure Apple knows about the f*%king problem but they are too busy with rolling out iphone4 rather then fixing this bug. This thread has been running for a while, has anyone seen any Apple representative making any comments or stating that Apple is working on this problem. NO.

NO point being nice to Apple and make us look like suckers. Its Apple, they need to fix the f*&king problem and not the customers being understanding and nice and patient and waiting for ever for a solution.

    f*$k Apple

Well I talked with one of Apples iPhone senior advisors today about the alarm issue. They are definitely looking into that one and have created a case number and this man has passed me his contact details.

I mentioned the birthday bug and he said he was going to look into it. I’ll follow up on this latter in the week.

Yup, both the calendars in my iPad and my iPhone 4 are showing the correct birthday date, but my contact details show every single birthday (whether entered on the iPhone, in Outlook, or in OWA) as one day ahead. Argh. I don't understand how this problem hasn't been fixed. It has been around for YEARS.

I had a problem where calendar entries were off by an hour. I found this and it fixed my problem.

There are two timezone settings on the iPhone - one is the global one under Settings->Date & Time->Time Zone, and one is the sync-specific one under Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars->Time Zone Support (second from bottom on the page). Could you check that these match or that the latter is set to "Off"?
