Symptoms: Macbook Air powers on, hear startup chime, goes to white screen with gray apple (all normal so far).
NOW I see the spinning wheel and a 'progress bar' at the bottom of the screen (as if trying to install something). It gets to about 1% of the bar; disappears then reappears; attempts the 'install' again and then simply powers down the computer.
Tried safe boot (power + shift) but still went through the same above process. Any other emergency start up hints or boot tips
As I just hit the road for 2 weeks, I have no external drive or backups.
What should I do?
Imac Intel Core 2 Duo and MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.6.4), 2GB Ram
