Q: Why is my visual voicemail gone?

I got my new iphone4 and it seems to be working well. The only weird thing is that I don't have visual voicemail anymore. I had it with my 3G but if I press 'voicemail' on my new phone, it calls ATT voicemail, just like any other phone.
Is there something I should do to reactivate it?
Thanks

The password thing will not resolve this problem for everyone. My visual voicemail worked fine for about two weeks after getting my iphone4, then it died. None of these steps solved the problem:

-Verify your password/PIN (both via phone settings and ATT sys settings)
-Change your password/PIN (both via phone settings and ATT sys settings)
-Reset-up your voicemail (both via phone settings and ATT sys settings)
    -Reset your network settings.
    -Reseat the sim card

Finally I broke down and called the **** that IS ATT: They made me go thru the above list.. Again.
The 4th ATT technical rep I spoke with resolved the issue. Sometimes this problem manifests itself in such a way that the end-user cannot resolve it on their own. Clearly I represented one of those situations. Further, this is an ongoing problem ATT knows about. The correct buzzword to use with ATT is "Reprovisioning." You'll need to tell them to reprovision your phone in order to restore your visual voicemail.

After they have restored service ask 'em why they didn't send you an email (they freely send so much other junk email) sharing with you that they full well know they have a visual voicemail system fail that has effected huge numbers of iphone4 users and 3Gs users that upgraded to ios4, inviting you call them to have your phone Reprovisioned if you are experiencing this problem.

Then tell them to credit your account to compensate you for having not gotten that voice message inviting you to a meeting to discuss a $30,000business deal.

I found this topic and while it didn't resolve my missing Visual Voicemail, I wanted to post my own experience.

I upgraded to an iPhone5 at a local Best Buy store (flame away, I'll never do that again).

I tried several password resets.  In the end, I called an ATT support person, who discovered that when the Best Buy store migrated my plan to the new phone, they did not migrate my Data with Visual Voicemail option.  They simply migrated my Data option without the Visual Voicemail.  Apparently, this is due to the iPhone 5 using LTE, and the option isn't so obvious any more.

The ATT Operator reset my Data/Voicemail and now I have my Visual Voicemail back.

I just had this issue when upgrading from iPhone 5s to 6+. It doesn't seem like anyone has had it for a while, because I can't find anything about it recently. I figured out the issue though. keywords in case people don't know it's called "visual voicemail:" I can't see my voicemails on the screen anymore, or i lost the voicemails listed on my iPhone.

First off Apple has this support article: Get help with visual voicemail on your iPhone - Apple Support

I did have to update my network settings, but that still did nothing. I had many voicemails that I wanted to save, so I was afraid to reset my network settings because I  wasn't sure if that would delete all my old voicemails.

What I think the issue was, is I called my voicemail, I just HAPPENED to remember my password from way before I had an iPhone and entered it. (If you don't know your password, call your carrier, give them your account info and you can change it). My voicemail was full when I transferred to the new phone, and I think that triggered something weird that confirmed the visual voicemail system because I went through EVERY email and deleted 90% of them, and the second I hung up, it came back!

    hope this helps
